It’s definitely the straight six, those things ran for 200-300k all day. Let me know when your 392 crosses the 300k threshold and we can talk.

I still voted for diesel though because I’m biased ?
well got the 8 year warranty....then if it blows ...if v8's are still around then I will send it off to AMW to do a full 426 conversion, make it bulletproof.

I wheel long distances at 1-2 miles elevation so I'm casting a vote for the 2.0T. NA engines get really weak in the thin air.

But there is no "best" engine, it's all about being most appropriate for your use case.

I've driven the previous version of the 3.6L, the newer 3.6L, owned 2x 2.0L and test driven the 3.0L and 392.

Best fit for the Jeep overall, I've voted for the 2.0 and 3.0.

I like the 2.0, but wish I'd coughed up for the 3.0. I think I will do a powertrain swap to a 3.0 or a 5.9 after I am done with the 5/100,000

4.0. Everyone knows it
Well aside from all the 'tards on this site that are going to vote 2.0 since this is a JL specific forum and people are typically going to vote for whatever they bought. And since that is the default engine if you pick an automatic transmission unless you go out of your way to buy a diesel or a 392 then that's probably going to be the number one choice I don't need a poll to figure that out. The 3.6 is the only option if you buy a manual transmission. And now they charge an extra $2,000 if you want the 3.6 with the automatic. Which definitely makes the 2.0 the default option for the vast majority of JL buyers.

So even though the 2.0 is in fact not the best Wrangler engine it will win this poll anyway.

Well if the wording was a bit different and was just What's the best engine in a Wrangler I'd say one of the LSx swaps :D
Power and reliable.
Best jeep engine, 4.0L all day. It's not a rocket, but it will take you anywhere and not break. In the off chance it does break, it's cheap to fix.

Why post a poll on a JL forum, in the JL/JLU general discussion section, and include engines not in the JL? Seems silly.
4.0 in the JL. Well, the YJL and it's a 4.7 stroker.

3.6L is reliable but second best.
Best is 3.0L Ecodiesel but not reliable. But its unreliability is not the engine per se ub just that fuel pump component.

Had to give the 3.8 in my 2008 JKUX some love so I voted for it. 180k miles runs perfect. Been a good engine since I bought it brand new. Oh and the factory lifetime powertrain warranty that they came with at the time is a huge plus. Yes it is still honored they did an oil pan gasket and the trans cooler lines just last year. Cost me nothing. I think that warrants my vote. If anyone gets one, a $20 pedal commander knock off and a gear change wake it up. 18 mpg’s too. Not bad.

Hardly ever a complaint about the 392, so that's my vote.

Sure wish they would have offered the 5.7 across the board though.

I wouldn't consider it the best on that list from it's lack of HP, but the 3.8L in our 2010 JKU has over 250,000 miles on it running 37" tires and it doesn't leak or burn a drop of oil. Under the hood, the alternator, radiator fan, and battery are the only things that are not original.

So far not in the lead. But i am surprised by all the Jeep newbies who don't know about the venerable 4.0L. Makes me feel old.
