I get it on the red dash, the only thing it looks okay in are black or white Jeeps. Even then it's tough to look at. That's just my opinion though, some go nuts for it.

Nice find! As a kid I always wanted to get one of those Jeep in a Box they advertised in the back of magazines! It would have been awesome to build your own! LOL!

IKR! To answer your original question, pre-2024 JL Willys were a Sport package with an added "Customer Preferred Package 26W" for $6,055 that made them a Willys (example of the window sticker below). It would be interesting to see a 2024 Willys window sticker to see if it starts as a Willys or if it continues to be listed as a Sport with an added package. The new standard features are pretty significant compared to a base Sport.

To answer my question above, I found a 2024 window sticker and it looks like they continue to be considered a Sport Wrangler with an added package, 22W, to make them a Willys.

Just curious, when did Jeep start offereng the Willys Trim on new Jeeps? Our salesman has said that this year is the first year the Willys has been considered a premium level like the Sahara and Rubicon due to the added offroad equipment. He said the past Willys have only been a Sport with off-road tires and stickers. Since ordering our Willys, my wife has become more in tune to the various models and we are seeing a lot more Willys in our area. They've probably all been here, we just never paid that much attention to the trim level! So, did the Willys just start with the JL or were they offered with the JK, TJ, YJ and CJ? Thanks...
Your salesman is an idiot.

What he's talking about is called a Willys Sport. So basically when the JLs first came out, you had the Sport and then you had the off-road version of the Sport which was called the Willys Sport. Then you had the upgraded version which was the Sport S, and the following upgraded version which was just called the Willys. Basically if you look at their initial lineup it was: version/off-road version for each and every tier.

Though maybe not exactly, this would be the lineup to date:
Three tiers and then I guess wherever you want to put the high altitude in there.

Base
Version: Sport
Off-road version: Willys Sport

Upgraded Base
Version: Sport S
Off-road version: Willys

Luxury
Version: Sahara
Off-road version: Rubicon

I know they don't currently offer the Willys Sport for 2024, but realistically speaking it the only difference between the Willys Sport and the Willys in past years, was the Willys would come with the LED light package and all of the Sport S standard and optional packages.

Both the Willys Sport and the Willys comes with Rubicon suspension and off-road tires in the 32-in tire size. Though tire size might have changed for 2024 along with the rear locker they now seem to offer with it.

If your salesman considers only vehicles with lockers to be off-road versions, I guess he's technically right, but he's still an idiot!

My Wrangler is a Willys Sport.

That red shock tower there is what they are calling the Rubicon Suspension. Realistically speaking all it really gave you was an extra inch of clearance for tires. Also if you wanted to put 35s on really quick, you might need body lift or some sort of small lift kit to fit 35s on a Sport or Sport S, but if you got the Willys Sport or the Willys edition you could fit 35s with zero modifications.

Yep, the 2024 window stickers I've seen are the same, Base Price is the Sport, then the 22W (on the 2 door) Package is added to make it a Willys. It's still the most bang for the buck and will probably be a very popular package!

Ah, the military surplus Jeep ads. I know someone that bought a surplus Jeep, and it was quite some time before they ever got it running.

In high school, one kids dad would buy Korean war vintage M38 crated Navy Jeeps. He said it took three crates to make one decent Jeep. He didn't finish more than a couple of them. The parts back then were so abundant that what he had left wasn't worth much. Most had started to rust in the crates, or the crates had been dropped or hit by forklifts. At the auctions, you couldn't open them and inspect, just hope for the best. The one he kept for awhile was cool as hell in it's flat grey patina paint, military tires and that unmistakable gear whine.

They will take any warm body at most dealers. The few good salesman that any given dealer has are so busy, with so many repeat customers, that they don't need to troll the lot or wait at the door for the next prospect to walk in.

many dealers have lost my business, without knowing so, because the idiot in bad dress clothes who approached me could answer even the most basic question, such as "Where are the Wranglers parked?" or "Are these all you have in stock?".

One kid at a Toyota dealer, wearing shiny black oversize dress pants, a maroon oversize dress shirt and a Loony Tunes tie, starts out as soon as I walk in the door asking about a Tundra with "What kind of payment are you looking for?" I just left.

Dealers that have the staff in dress clothes, in my experience, are to be avoided at all costs. Most of the employees don't look "classy" or professional even when they abide by the dress code minimum. Buying a new vehicle, especially something like a Wrangler, should be fun and casual. I don't want to feel like I'm in a miserable cubicle office, at a funeral, wedding or church. They don't even wear suits or ties at my credit union anymore.

My dad worked for decades at a Ford truck/Heavy truck dealer. The only dress code was clean dark jeans or nicer pants, a shirt with a collar, polo or button up and closed toe shoes or boots, no tennis/running shoes. He usually wore a Ford or Western Star golf shirt and dark jeans. It was a super laid back place to but a truck. No fancy office furniture or decorations. They had a nice big steel building for a showroom and picnic tables for customers to sit at. No giant white marble building with huge windows, no fancy office furniture and huge prints on the walls, no pretension of luxury. Just a good ol' down home atmosphere.

Most places anymore want to give an imposing, luxury appearance that looks like crap in a few years as styles changes and things begin to wear.

For awhile there, Land/Range Rover dealers looked like a Cabela's, with out all the dead animals or fish tanks inside. I though the dealer looked pretty good when I went to one. Now, they have all remodeled to look like a tech company office space.

We considered a really low mileage 2015 JK Willys when we were shopping fall of 2021. The factory Willys package depended on if it was Sport or Sport S based. In 2015 the S based version was called the Willys Wheeler package, and it had limited slip rear, tinted hardtop windows, 3.73 gear ratio, and 32" tires stock.

Our 2022 had several things in the Willys package, 32" offroad tires, tinted hardtop windows, slightly different bumpers, Rubicon shocks, LED front lighting, black grille, limited slip rear diff, leather wrapped wheel, side rock rails, black trail badging, Willys and "4 wheel drive" old school style gate decal, etc. We ordered the tow/electrical on ours and manual transmission.

The new Willys package, is essentially what I would have ordered, had it been available. If we'd been shopping this year, it's what we'd have ordered, hands down. They put the tow package/electrical group in stock, D44's both ends, 4.10 gears, and a rear locker for traction offroad when you need it. Basically, they added the things to the package that we either ordered or added, and I wouldn't have had to do all the work adding things like 4.10 gearing, etc.

We love ours, but it's a little more capable than the stock Willys having limited slip both ends. I'd rather have a D44 front axle, but feel our 2 door is fine with the Super 30. We're totally not fans of the big screen dash TV. Neither of us like the trend towards running all the interior functions on a touch screen. With the addition of a winch up front and a front e-locker, you'd have the Rubicon capability at the Willys price point, without the electronic gew gaws.

Bottom line, if we were ordering again, the Willys is what we'd order, 3.6/manual trans again.
It doesn't get 4.10s, according the build tool

Seems like in 2020 Jeep screwed up. I mean the previous years had a D44 and an E Locker? I have a 2022 and had to pay for an Elocker. Sort of pisses me off to know they had them in previous models.
