Hello! I just got my first Jeep recently, it's a Jeep Wrangler 2024 JL Sport 4-door. I am a short person and would like to get side steps to make it easier to get in my Jeep without having to jump. I am using it for regular road driving for now. Could anyone give me their recommendations for a side step that would fit my Jeep and be on the more economical side? I don't need anything fancy and would prefer to not break the bank for a side step. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

05/23/24 - Thank you everyone for responding! I really appreciate all the help! I'm learning so much for having my jeep for two weeks now lol. So my budget is $250 being the max with a little wiggle room. Ideally I would like a running board that has the step down portion because I am short short...as in 4'11 so I need the extra help lol. I am having no luck on fb marketplace and craigslist. Could anyone recommend reputable/reliable websites to buy jeep parts?

Factory Sahara side steps off marketplace or a local Jeep group. They can be had cheap, match the body well, don’t rust, and though they aren’t rock rails, they can take a hit typically breaking them but not transfer damage that I’ve seen. Rinse, repeat if you see them as a consumable item. I’ve taken mine on 5-7 rated trails and though I’ve bumped them and scratched them, they’re not broken yet. I even have them on our Rubicon (little kids).

Thank you!! I will try looking for the Sahara one and see if I have any luck

Thank you so much! And I love your Jeep! Did your side steps come red like that? Or did you customize it? I would love to do something like that

Congrats on your new Jeep and welcome to the cool guys and gals club!

Is yours a 2-door or 4-door? If a 4-door you should have many options including new take-offs that are being replaced with rock sliders...

You're welcome and Thanks 😊
I love Scarlett. She's my 1st Jeep
Regarding your questions
They came like that. Actually they come in several colors. 2 door & 4 door
So many choices of Side Steps. Took me 6 months of agonizing to make a choice
Everyone has different needs. I wanted something that allowed easy step up/down AND step access so I could easily access the Hard Top/Freedom Panels/Windshield around Jeep
Here's the link.

I purchased the same brand but with the second step. Hot and cool on my purchase because my version really makes for a small step on the front and back. On the other hand, the second step is tremendous for gaining leverage when folding the soft top back, even at my 5"11" height.

I can say they make a very solid product. Outstanding build and finish. Easy install as well, but don't use the included carriage bolts, make a run to the hardware store and use hex bolts instead.

I think you missed the part about not breaking the bank 🤣🤣

RSE is a really nice option and I'll probably replace my MORE step with them at some point but I'm also not looking to spend $2600+ on steps right now.

Yeah, I guess I thought I saw the end of the rainbow in your back yard.

My wife has thanked me multiple times for installing these on both her JLU and my JT.
I like that they are totally out of the way, can't catch or snag on anything when driving, and there when you need them.
I've looked at and tried many other types of steps - the problem with all of them is that the first step up from the ground is STILL too high. these go down roughly half-way on a typical Jeep that's not lifted 5".
Other steps I still have to oil my knee and hip to step up that high and then hoist my "slightly overweight" (my wife has another term) butt up there.

But I do get it - for sure, they aren't cheap.

Now I know why some people have clever acronym meanings for J E E P

Well.. I just went outside to my back yard to be doubly triple sure and sadly there wasn't a pot of gold. 😢

I definitely concur that they are a great product that is worth every penny of the $2300 (or the $2600+ if you add the extra skid plate); especially if you have the wife & kids climbing in and out of the Jeep regularly. For me personally I don't typically have passengers in my personal daily driver which is why I only have the one Hide-a-step for the drivers door which is enough "help" for me with the factory 1.5" lift on the Rubicon X with the X35 tire package.

I have a laundry list of other mods in the budget that are farther up on the totem pole than these; however, I have no doubt in another year or two I'll be getting a pair of the RSE steps with the skid plate. If I happen to locate that pot of gold some where before then, these would be an immediate buy. 🤣
