How are things now? We always see the disaster in the news up here but rarely get any follow up to see how the recovery is going. Hope things are looking up and people are getting the support they need.

Northeastern Sarasota County and eastern Manatee County are putting themselves back together pretty quickly. The southern end of Sarasota County, Charlotte County, DeSoto County (particularly Arcadia), and especially Lee County (Ft Myers Beach, which is a town, not a beach) are a different story altogether, the farther south you go. It‘s going to take YEARS to rebuild Ft Myers Beach. According to officials, it was 90% destroyed.
In Arcadia, about 6000 homes were severely damaged due to record flooding. Even though it’s in a landlocked county (Desoto), it was completed isolated to all but boat traffic for days.
