2018 JLU is this the original battery? It’s reading 11.9 at the terminals and been having the start/stop issues. It is the E-torque with the 48v underneath.
If this is the original battery and knowing that I just bought the truck less than a month ago, should this be covered as a “safety item”

if not, which battery is the recommend now a days?

Battery would only be covered during the 3/36 factory warranty. Not sure what "safety" warranty you speak of. According to the internet though it lasted longer than it should have for these Jeeps. Seems most get <3yrs out of them.

I think safety items are stuff like seatbelts and airbags, which my understanding is they have to be warrantied by the manufacturer for the life of the vehicle. I have no personal experience with that, but I think that's the case.

That's the original. It's not a safety item. Nothing on your 2018 is covered under warranty anymore.

That lasted a good long time. It was a pre-covid installed battery made by Deka, a quality unit. A new Mopar battery isn't near as good. If you want another Deka that will last 5 years or more, go to O'Rielly's and get a Super Start (made by Deka) to replace it with.

On a side note I was looking at my VIN one of the options is a “supplemental heater”. What does that mean?

Don’t know for sure, but maybe an engine block heater?

Could mean an engine block heater?

As far as warranty iirc the emissions, E-Torque system and SRS (air bags/seat belts) fall under a 8/80k factory warranty that is required by federal regulations. I might be wrong though but worth a check to verify. If you're still under mileage.

If you just recently purchased. Check for any recalls or TSB that might be outstanding. I believe the 2018 would fall under the new steering box replacement if it hasn't t already been done. Enjoy your "new to you" Jeep.

The 80k is for the 48v underneath not the main battery. It’s fine I’ll spring for a new one not a huge deal but didn’t want to if they would replace it for free.

Just left the auto parts store they tested battery and said it was ok so who the hell knows. The little screen said ok needs charge or something to that effect. I may go down the road and get a second opinion.

I'm guessing it has a supplemental electric coolant heater for the HVAC system because you have e-torque.
