So roughly three weeks ago, Factory Battery died and left the wife stranded.
Right away I replaced both batts under the hood.
Upgraded the Main from a 600CCA to a 1000CCA and just did a direct replacement of the Aux Batt.
2019 Sahara 3.6L Auto 41k Miles
Just this week it started doing something strange:
Fob in vehicle,Brake Pressed, Push the start button….. Starter just gives a simple “Click”.
Wait a few seconds, Press button again, Starts Right up.
Mind you it only does this intermittently, And NEVER does it when we trigger Remote Start.
I’ve checked Battery Voltages separately and narrowed it down to Possibly the Push to Start Button.
Anyone have any insight?
Anything ELSE I could possibly check?
I thought it could be the Brake switch, but the lights work completely fine.
I’m hoping it’s not the starter solenoid going bad, but I figure that couldn’t be it since we’ve had the Start/Stop feature OFF since we got the Jeep, and it isn’t cycling even half as much as it would with it on?
Or maybe it’s a Tazer issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

There is a TSB for early JLs to correct a station when the rig wouldn't start because of AUX battery voltage. At least that is what I remember. Did you have that done?

Disconnect/separate both batteries, and test for voltage and load test each separately. Some folks are having problems with the Tazer draining batteries. Check all connections and grounds. Also check the F2 fuse.

I take issue with the blanket statement "Some folks are having problems with the Tazer draining batteries".

To be very clear... only with a specific firmware that ZAutomotive had out/ had made available awhile back were guys/gals having battery(s) depletion issues thanks to the Tazer JL with that specific firmware on it.

With that said, it is always a good move when having issues to take the Tazer JL out of the mix for awhile.. while you try to ferret out a problem.

I only have replied here to mention this, so novice, Tazer JL owner's don't get spooked/mislead reading your post.

Both Batteries Idle at 12.5-12.6
All connections Checked
Starter fuse checked and has continuity

The TSB that you speak of would only impact 2018 JL's... Not all of them but some of them. The OP, has a 2019 JL.

Our Tazer has the latest firmware update, I’ll try a re-boot today.
Just trying to see if it’s software related, or just a simple Push to start button Fix.
I only mentioned the Tazer because of the Auto Stop/Start disable feature we have running.
I highly doubt that it’s the problem

@Pressuregarage

Without experiencing the issue first hand... well, we have how you describe the issue to base our thoughts on...

Could it be that your Aux battery is the culprit. When Aux battery voltage is down, your 2019 JL will not start with first attempt but will start on second attempt to start.

You changed out Main battery and when doing so you may have blown N3 in the high amp fuse array. Do that and the alternator will no longer charge/maintain the Aux battery.

So, your new Aux battery that you just replaced, is not be maintained by the alternator.

IF your Aux is borderline voltage wise, you may see the JL start on first attempt one day and the next day or whenever, would want to start on second attempt if voltage of Aux was down enough.

Also, your comment " Both Batteries Idle at 12.5-12.6 " lead me to believe you are not up to speed in regard to your dual battery system. I'm not wanting to put you on the defensive but... I will private message you.

I meant both batteries idle at 12.5-12.6 separately.
As in I checked them both disconnected from the vehicle.
I’ll check the fusing mentioned Right now.
Hopefully It’s a simple fix.
Thank you for your insight
It’s greatly appreciated

Your Assumption was Correct.
N3 Fuse has no continuity.
Just ordered a Replacement WITH an Extra just in case.
Going to Disconnect Aux Battery for now until the new parts arrive, to make sure the new battery does not go bad.
Super happy for knowledgeable forum users as yourself.
Thank you and happy new year.

Check that your fuses are all seated... Mine did the same thing til I figured to check the fuses,,,, 1/2 were loose so I pressed them all . No trouble since

Get a hammer and tap the side of the starter motor. It’s probably a sticker solenoid. If that fixes it. Replace the starter motor
