We have a 2020 Wrangler. The IDC works intermittently. I have done the basic troubleshooting. Our VIN is not listed on the 2024 recall. I have bypassed the auto stop/start feature. Local dealer won’t look at it without the feature hooked up and a new auxiliary battery installed. $399 😑😑
The OEM IDC’s are all back ordered. Wonder why 🤔🤔 looking for recommendations on an aftermarket display cluster. I can do the install
Thanks

Not clear on the nature of your problem. For instance, many complain of the display between the fuel and temp indicators going blank. Often toggling the steering wheel left pad up or down will restore it. Also, mileage (miles driven) shows 999999 from time to time, then returns to normal. MIne does this. There is an aftermarket display (Electronic Vehicle Information Center) available for about $1200. I can't find the link to it. With your year, is there any warranty left?

I’m far from an expert at this but if you replace the display how do you deal with the mileage on the odometer? I’ve seen entries on carfax that indicate “mileage unknown” or something similar. I know the unit needs to be replaced but I wonder if you
Are effecting the future value of the car possibly

Known issue. You need a new cluster. Only some got covered by the recall, but they all fail. Primarily the base model ones. Dunno how they got away with only recalling some but not all when they all fail.

Mm. First I've heard of this issue. I've a 2021 Sport, so this is something I need to have on my radar? 🧐

Yeah, it'll probably fail sooner than later. We get a handful of the sport style clusters a month it seems. It's a real easy install at least, takes about ten minutes.

Just an added thing to check but if you have a Tazer installed, you may be inadvertently turning on Dark Mode using a button sequence on your steering wheel. The menu/selection process with the Tazer is not overly user friendly sometimes and you may have turned this feature on. Ask me why I know after my whole dash kept randomly (well, to me) turning off when unconsciously pawing the wheel.

As my warranty has long since expired, what, if anything, will I have to fund out of pocket? Just curious.

Hey everyone, I know a lot of us are having issues with our Jeep instrument clusters going blank. There is a safety recall (#30B) for certain Jeep models that covers this instrument panel cluster problem, but it only applies to some VINs — so not everyone’s vehicle is included.

I spoke with Transport Canada and they recommended that anyone experiencing this issue, even if your VIN isn’t covered by the recall should file a safety defect complaint. Transport Canada tracks these reports, and if enough people submit complaints it can influence whether they open a formal investigation or expand the recall. They suggested that both U.S. and Canadian owners report their issues to the appropriate safety agencies.

If the recall is later revised and your VIN becomes included after you’ve already paid for the repair out of pocket, you may be eligible to seek reimbursement, so reporting the issue now is important.

Report links:

🇨🇦 Canada (Transport Canada) – submit a potential safety defect complaint: https://tc.canada.ca/en/road-transp...-safety-defect-vehicles-tires-child-car-seats

🇺🇸 USA (NHTSA) – report a vehicle safety problem: https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem
