Hello all, I just wanted to share my journey to solve an interior squeaking noise that I lived with for over a year. I purchased a 2021 jl eco diesel in October of 2020. The noise was there the day I drove it off the lot, however slightly lower in decibels and less frequent. I originally was so excited about my dream purchase that the noise didnāt bother me to much, but as time went on it begun to drive me nuts. This noise (See the Video I posted below for noise)was located in the āb pillarā area up high. After taking the hard top on and off multiple times including some of the interior trim, I was unable to locate the noise. I broke down and decided to take the Jeep to the dealership. Two visits later, the dealership claimed to solve the mystery. Nope. The noise continued. The dealer requested the Jeep to go to a local body shop for the fix. I decided to give it one more attempt to find the problem cause really ā take it to a body shop.ā
I finally figured it out. The problem was kind of in front of us the whole time. Behind the black weather seal on the top of the B pillar was a dent from the factory. The B pillar has multiple layers of sheet metal and this dent was causing the two layers to rub during any body flexing. Even bumps in the road. As shown In the picture, I hammered in a plastic trim tool to gap the two metal layers. Sorry for the long post but thought it might help someone who might be dealing with a similar issue.
