I have an 18 JL Rubicon and a local shop is getting in a soft top for a 19 Rubicon that they want to sell for a good price. Will it fit my 18?

I think the lack of reply here Rick @Vawildjeep is that nobody here whose read this, myself included, has the knowledge to say with certainty.

What we can talk about is level of confidences, and other things that can be done to help address your concerns.

First off, can you get from the dealer the MOPAR part number of the soft top they are getting in? If it's the same as the one for the 2018 then that would be pretty good indication that you're going to have success with it. Of course everyone is on the same page that your getting a top specific for the number of passenger doors you have on your rig have correct (2 of 4)?

That said, little has changed on the 2019, especially regarding design. A couple of features have been added like Adaptive Cruise Control, but I would guess with good confidence, but by no means certainty, that as it regards this component, that a JL is a JL 2018 or 2019, and probably for future JL models to come...(not that some future JL won't change that.)

I can't speak to what your experience will be once at the dealer. What I can talk to is my experience, and what other Dual top 4 door JL owners like me had at purchase (you may have a 2 door, or an entirely different outcome.)

As you may know, Dual top 4 (and I suspect 2) door owners get the soft top in this humongous box that occupies the entire (and I mean ENTIRE) area behind the front seats with the rear seats down.

If this is the way the dealer plans on delivering the top to you (best to check ahead) don't come with more than 1 passenger in front, put your back seats down and clear your rig behind the front seats of everything.

Good luck.

I would put money on the fact that you shouldn't have a problem. Like @RussJeep1 said, not much has changed. I haven't seen any physical differences between an 18 and 19 JL except my 19 JL has ACC so the rearview mirror is attached differently and the sensors are mounted behind it but it doesn't change anything else. I would have to say the top is the same.

When mine arrived at the dealer (from what I heard) they went to do their thing to get it ready for delivery and were like "WHAT THE FRICK IS ALL THIS???" I kinda had the same reaction, it is the WHOLE BACK of a JLU with the back seats folded down (albeit half the height of the back) with a little bit of packing material around it to hold it place.

I can't imagine anything would have changed between the years (other than some electronic gizmos). But structurally they should be the same by all means. As long as the part #'s match between 18 and 19 years then yes - it will work. And unless something is majorly wrong/outdated with a part or design manufactures won't update it. If I were in your place I would have no qualms getting that top (after a simple research of part #'s for the tops/hardware.
