Always wanted my white JL to have color matched fender flares. I finally got take offs from a grey JL and had my shop repaint them white. They look great and its time to swap them out with the black fender flares. Anyone have tips on the tools/clips I will need? Amazon has a package of them but not sure if its enough. Thanks!

Do your new fenders have ANY clips? You can always swap clips from your existing flares, but you won’t know how many you’ll have available until you see how many you didn’t break off ?. I counted how many I knew I had to replace, then picked up a bag just to be sure I’d have enough before I started pulling off the old flares.

In terms of tips, the process is pretty straightforward, assuming your starting point looks like the image below. Just be prepared for the violent “cracking” sound you’ll encounter when you start pulling. I recall watching a couple YouTube videos which were helpful. Good luck!

Google it / youtube it. This is an extremely common installation.

If your inner fenders are not attached to the new fenders you'll need rivets as well as clips.

the new ones do have a decent amount of clip. im mainly worried about having enough of those clips as well as the rivets. ive seen people say you can reuse them and dont have to drill them out

i hear you can reuse those rivets if you take out the liner with the fender and compress them with pliers

There are no rivets between fender and body. The rivets are used to attach the liner to the fender. You can remove the entire fender/liner assembly together without touching the rivets. If you however have the liner detached from the fender you will need rivets and a rivet gun.

What you are talking about are the white flender clips. When you pull out your flenders, some will break, some will stay with the fender, some will stay on the body. The ones on the body can be removed with pliers and re-used. You'll still need some extra though as some will break. There is a technique you can use to keep most if not all clips intact. But I've never been able to master it lol.

There are also some black button style pressure clips that you will need as some will likely break when you try to remove them.
