Installing a electric brake controller

I have a 2019 JLU Sahara without the tow package. I got lost in the other post about electric brakes. Can someone inform me what I need to buy to install the electric brake using the blue wire. I do not want an electronic curt brake. Do I just need the brake controller, run the blue wire to it that comes with the mopar 7wire harness then run power and ground to the battery? The other thread gave me a headache lol.

If you already have a flat four hooked up. Yes I think you can run a brake controller with only the blue wire. That's what I am planning on doing but it's not installed yet. I bought a curt 51140. I already have a flat four hooked.up and working. For the brake controller I only plan on running the blue wire. At the bumper I have a converter plug flat four to 7 that has a loose blue wire to run the brake controller. Like this..

I have the mopar 7 pin harness already installed

Yes power, ground, blue wire to activate the trailer brake. AND also the brake controller needs a Brake light signal, like from a tail light or from under the dash at the pedal. This is from the manual for the curt 51140. Your 7 pin harness will have a wire for the trailer brake light too. If colors are standard it would be the red wire. Find a copy of the mopar harness wiring schematic to confirm. I'll let you know how my install goes this weekend. Tom

You need to tie into the brake pedal in the driver footwell. The blue wire is only part of it. I'm curious since your jeep came with the tow package, do you have a grey connector up by the brake pedal to plug into??? I can't find a photo. I'll see if there is a video. There is a video online that the gladiator has this tie-in plug. And apparently you can buy an adapter for a dodge ram or similar and use that. However, mine did not have such a plug. I don't know if its a gladiator thing or because I installed my tow package myself.

Without the "plug" on the brake pedal, you have to splice into the brake line. I didn't want to do that personally but many do.

Then after you have that installed, you'd follow the diagram that Tangokilo posted. The brake controller would need connected to power, ground, the blue wire, AND the brake pedal switch.

Report out. Success with the parts I showed previously. Picked up the brake signal from the third brake light tail gate wiring (white wire with green stripe). Thank you LONGBOWAMO for the tip in the other big thread. I also added a toggle switch to turn power on/off to the controller/7 pin plug. Here's where I put the 7 pin plug. It should be well protected from Michigan winter weather there. Tom
