Mopar lists one for the JL but for the life of me I can't find that pictures location in the JL. So is it simply a stock pic and the controller will end up in some strange place? Has anyone actually installed a controller and also was it a different brand? If I am going to bastard this machine the after market controllers have a tried and true record.

I bought the mopar brake controller and the Tekonsha 3073-P harness needed to install it. The install location is up under the dash on the left, actually right by where the controller plugs into the harness. If you can lie on your back under the dash on the driver's side to where you can see the existing plug for the brake controller harness, you will be able to make sense of the install location on the diagram.

This thread has photos of the connector. The mopar controller mounts to the metal brace with the 4 holes in. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/diy-trailer-brake-controller-install.28814/

When I went to actually do the installation and realized what a pain it is to reach the install location, and that you lose the only 12v outlet in the dash, I decided to go with a Redarc Tow-Pro instead, which also has the manual override mode for off-road use.

Thank you. I realize now I should have searched a little harder for the answer. Again, thank you.

Follow this link and your questions will be answered...It's a PITA but it will all be essentially OEM in the end and look great.

Controller install

And, just relocate the power plug...this is a better location anyway.

Curious where did you mount your Red-Arc? Our Jeep arrives in March'ish and we will need to tow with it quickly. I had a P3 in my previous '11 Cherokee which is a great controller, but want more integrated now. Using the Mopar would have been nice, but don't want to delete the 12V outlet.

If you have a picture of your final install with the Red-Arc, could you post it or DM me? Cheers.

There aren't many good mounting locations for the knob due to its depth behind the surface. I've seen a few mounted in the kick panel below the steering wheel. I wanted it somewhere out of the way that I could easily see and reach it. So I used some PVC bar from Amazon to make a small mount that I could put wherever I wanted.

The V2 Redarc which I received has a slightly deeper control knob than the new V3 version (available from Redarc's site) which may allow for more mounting possibilities.

Thanks. That is a nice idea. I have a call into my new dealer to chat about the Mopar one first. The more I think about it, not sure if it matters if we delete the 12V outlet as we have the other USB outlets right there for charging. I will be using MirrorTap to power my Radenso RD (did that in the Audi), so don't even need the 12V for that. Can't think now why I need to keep the 12V outlet.

Good stuff. Are all the new ones the new shorter version, or do you need to go directly to redarc?

Check the model number when ordering. The new one is EBRH-ACCV3-NA and has a red stripe on the knob, the previous one is EBRH-ACCV2-NA with a white stripe.

When I was looking, redarc was the only place I saw the V3 but I imagine it will appear everywhere else as stock gets moved through. I wanted it quickly so I ordered the V2 through Amazon.

good stuff again. I ordered and recieved the new shorter one with the red strip. thx

Question- did you order the pig tail TPH-017 to hook into your 3073-p? IF so, was it plug and play into your OEM trailer harness?

No I didn't, but I think that would make it plug and play. I ended up just manually splicing the 3073-p to the Redarc harness.

good info on here. I used it to hook up my brake controller. Tested it yesterday and it's great!
