I bought the rock light kit from infinite offroad, it came with 2 led strips and 6-6w rock lights. I want to daisy chain one led strip then to one 6 watt light. That would be under the side step going to the rear rock light. Infinite off-road said they don’t recommend daisy chaining from a light strip to a light, because there could be a voltage drop. I could see that on a more powerful 12w light. I did a visual comparison between a rock light with a strip before it in the circuit, compared to a to light directly from the power source. Visually, I’m satisfied it’s working. I can’t get specs on the light to do any actual voltage drop calculations or or current requirement for
each light. Has anyone tried this ?

Have had them in series since January, no issues with h the voltage drop. Only 1 led strip then 1 rock light from main battery

I just replaced a previous set of lights with a set of 6 the infinite offroad 6w (magnetic). I did not end up using the light strips but tried to plan the wiring to avoid max voltage drop. I did this by using 'H' and 'Y' splitters at parts of the setup. From the controller 1 wire powers the front undercarriage. The 2nd lead from the controller has a tap off for one light near front door rocker then I split off and run one leg under the jeep to the other side to power 2 lights on the passenger side and then the other side of the split powers the 2nd light on the driver side as well as one back by the hitch.

In theory that's a little better than one single daisy chain powering the whole loop but like you say with these 6w lamps it's probably not testing the limits.

Hey Lance!

How are you liking the 6W magnetic lights? I was just looking at getting them, that or the 24W that I would attach magnets onto. Do you think 6 of the magnetic lights provide sufficient lighting?

So I replaced a set of 6 Lux magnetic lights I had for about 5 years. They started to fritz out a little and even though Lux does not directly sell the small magnetic ones anymore they must have kept a few for warranty and they were able to send me a replacement.

I recently noticed due to our road salt that the magnets were crumbling so that's when I got the infinite offroad. They are almost the same thing (in fact I think they are 'Lux') with 2 nice improvements - they are fully encased in epoxy so look like they will last better and they have options to run the wiring (daisy chain, splitters, etc) so no splicing needed.

I use them for underglow while camping, I have them front, back, and 2 along each rocker panel. Fine for that purpose but if you're looking to place your wheels on rocks at night I think you'd want more.

The basic controller that comes with them is fine and the RF remote (in addition to bluetooth) is good so you don't need to connect your phone to control them if you don't want to. I control the power to them with an spod switch that also has a trigger to the courtesy lights. One quirk is that if the controller is first powered on it starts off white then after like 1 second goes to your previously set color/mode. If you don't want that you need to keep the controller powered on constant and use the remote or phone app to turn them on then it immediately comes up in the last mode.

Practically speaking this means if I'm camping/stargazing and using red to keep my night vision I keep them switched on all the time and use the remote.

I think the kit has sufficient lighting.

Thanks for all the details man!

I forgot to mention that I would be getting the all-white kit and using them as courtesy lights when the dome lights come on (unlocking the jeep, etc), as well as hooked up to aux #4 to manually engage them.

I would be placing 2 near the front bumper, 2 under each door on either side (my RSE sliders would be the lowest point of contact, so they are out of harm's way 😅), and the last 2 near the rear bumper. Total of 8, I'm going for more functional than aesthetic look which is why I'm not putting them in my wheel well.

Can you share where you tapped yours into the courtesy light? In the footwell? In the fuse box? I tried a fuse tap, but the courtesy light fuse is a unique J-case fuse that would not fit and I'd have to recreate by own fuse tap which does not sound fun at all. Photos of the tapped courtesy wire would be appreciated at your convenience.
Thanks! 🍻

I tapped into the footwell light in the drivers footwell. I used my empty sux battery box for the Bluetooth device

Yep, same here. Easy to run trigger wire through nearby firewall grommet. I put my controller in the engine bay next to my spod:

I think ScotM's pics of the light output is a good rendition of what you can do but I'm not using the strip lights in my setup
