Slap it on the bottom of the nearest Semi and send it down the road!

Nah, I'd leave it stashed on a bus or something similar and then call the dealership up and say you think your vehicle was probably stolen and see what happens (not your fault you forgot where you parked it!)Otherwise, I would suggest smashing that son-of-a-bitch into 1000 pieces, smear it with dog feces, put a note on top of it reading "Track THIS!", put it in a box with a 1 cent stamp on it, address it to the dealership with the return address the dealers address as well and drop it in a mail drop.
I know dealer in my town does tracking and "etching to all their vehicle then charge you for it , they do it as soon as it hits the lot. adds up to about 6-900 dollar add on ,,,,,fuckersWeren't there reports here of some dealerships etching windows and installing Lojack trackers in their new vehicles?
There are rules and regulations that vary based on the state/country, but this is a common practice among the “Buy here, Pay here” group of companies. They can also do it using cellular modems, like the one that was found. This space is not all sinister, as Pay as you go insurance from companies lIke Progressive have been using On-board telematics for a decade or more. This quote from the device manual that @Jeepmarkjl posted is interesting,
"Relay Driver
A 500mA sink capable output pin is provided. This pin is meant to drive a relay coil intended to interrupt the starter solenoid relay for the ignition circuit to a car."
So it can remotely disable your Jeep if instructed to do so...if you stop making payments for example.
exactly true statement I questioned it on the invoice at the dealer I went to and he finally just said they do it to every car and they will only "disable" the tracking if I don't want it , most dealers don't remove it tho.My understanding is the dealer is the one who installs it as part of the vehicle prep. I have nothing to back that up just what I’ve read. I did have one sleazy dealer talking down the dealer I purchased from telling me my dealer installs a tracking device.
I noticed that not only does it have cellular and GPS capability, but there are also GPIO pins on the thing. That means that it could be set up to turn something on or off or be notified when a line goes high, etc.
Can you use it to make phone calls?Ohhh! It gets better. There’s a SIM card in there. ETs been phoning home!!!
Many of the older models of these used years ago were 3G so by now they are no longer communicating as that technology is doneTo put my nerd hat on (my company sells cellular modules, GPS components, etc), every car made in the last 20 years has a cellular module from the factory. In fact, there is even a grade of ruggedness required to be in cars.
They use them for a variety of reasons. GM first started using it for OnStar, as well as other over the air functions. However, all of them can be used to gather on-board diagnostics and likely GPS. You got the one that someone put in after … the main cellular module is still there.
And so are lots of Amazon Kindles. Many of the older models of these used years ago were 3G so by now they are no longer communicating as that technology is done
