So yesterday morning I go to my wrangler after charging overnight to find I was still at 30% charge. I unplugged and plugged it back in, everything looks normal. Indicators are flashing green and the dash is showing percentage charged and time remaining, but it does not charge any further. It does charge on e-save. I’m using a level 2 ChargePoint charger which also indicates normally. Tried my level 1 charger… same thing. Any ideas? No scheduling set.

If your jeep has the auxiliary battery I would disconnect it and recharge your main battery and see how it checks out.

Is that your knee-jerk reaction to anything electrical?
The 4XE does not have an Aux AGM battery.

@BillMcC You've covered the basics by trying two chargers, confirming same results with both. So we can likely assume the chargers are working. Looks like the problem is internal. I'd try a code reader and see if anything comes up that gives more insight to why it refuses to charge.

Since it charges on esave most of the system must be working. But I'm not very familiar with the 4XE, I don't have one. Might have to take it to a dealer to find out what's stopping the plug-in from working if the code reader doesn't give you more info.

From having owned a troubled 4xe before… I’d say your onboard charger is the issue here. That’s why it won’t charge while plugged in but it does when driving in e-save (and probably from the regen, right?).

Oops. I feel mortified.

Sorry about that.

Thank you for your reply. I’m assuming I have a bad IDCM. I’ll be calling the dealer in the morning. They are getting to know me pretty well!

Yes, the HV battery will take a charge (e-save) just not through the charge port.

Probably going to have to visit the dealer like you said. You said you used the Level 2, and Level 1.

I had a charging error, but it turned out to be my EVSE, the Grizzly one - turns out, that if it lost a wi-fi connection it wouldn't resume charging.

There is a person here who had a similar issue as you and turns out one of their pins was bent. He was able to bend it back and all was right with the world.

A lot of the time you'll have a stored input charge too low DTC. Sometimes this has a "service charging system" warning on the dash, but not always. Happens when the IDCM detects a drop in input voltage for more than 4 seconds. For some reason this completely stops its ability to charge until the code is cleared. It can take a seriously long time to clear on its own.

I've seen it like 100+ times by this point. The entire diagnostic process is "Clear the code and plug it in to a level 2 charger, if it charges its good".
