How do you clear the check engine light on the JL?

It turned on, took it to autozone and it gave me a loose gas cap code which in fact was loose.

On my previous vehicles I would just unplug the battery, so I did this on the JL the car still had voltage and still turned on. It blowed my mind. I later learned that the JL has 2 batteries :(

Any help is much appreciated.

You need to bypass the secure gateway module to clear codes, if I’m not mistaken. So that means a Tazer JL or one of its competitors. Else pay the dealer, or ask if they’ll do it as a courtesy.

That said, if it was just a loose gas cap it’ll go off in its own after a bit.

Mine took like two days to go out, now I make sure the cap is tight

If it was a loose gas cap it will reset itself, depending on how much you drive it could take a couple of days

Forgive me if this is a dumb question . . . I never have looked when I go test driving these . . . my WK2 (2016) is capless, the JL's have a gas cap ? edit 2 minutes later . . . oops, stupid me indeed . . . of course they have a gas cap . . . I just recalled seeing a 3rd party website selling lockable caps for the JL .

They have caps - my wife’s Cherokee is capless as well.
