Ok so I need to remove the ebrake cables totally from the jeep to put longer ones in for my wider axles..

But I cant get them out from under the console. I have removed them from the adjuster. But there is like a welded clamp that wont let them go.. I think they are like the clips at the axle end, but its impossible to get at the clips to remove them.

Someone said, just rotate the cable and the clips will release.. but they are not releasing..

Help

My guess is that you need to use that hole in the side of the bracket to push in on the individual sections of the spring fingers, rotating the cable a little to access each one, while also keeping pressure pulling back and a slight angle to keep the fingers depressed while getting to the next one. It's hard to describe and I've never taken it loose from that spot exactly or even seen it in person, but based on that pic that's my best guess.

Yeah, one thing I read said to take the seats out and console totally.. Plus you have to lift the carpet to get at another clamp that holds the cables down..

It's a horror show.

But yes, push in via the holes.. Looks like I'm going to have to remove a ton of stuff.. Maybe I'll just not worry about it for a while :)

Those brake lines in general just suck. Be glad you don't have a 4xe and need to remove the bracket at the rear crossmember... Maybe if the Jeep was on a lift it wouldn't be terrible to get to, but trying to do that with it just on jack stands was honestly close to the most frustrating part of installing my Clayton lift. The front passenger control arm heat shield was probably the second most annoying.

I accidentally removed mine doing an install. See post below with video showing how to get to them without removing the console.

I think you just took them off the axle.. thats the easy bit. I need to remove them from the jeep altogether... There is only one video which the guy above posted, but it just says use a wrench.. which doesnt work for me.
Now mind you there is a clamp under the carpet I need to take out as well, so maybe if I did that then I could get it to move..

Ive shelved it until I get some other work done first.
