Hood open warning light

Has anyone had the hood open warning light come on but the hood is down and secure?

Start with the latch cleaning. It costs $8 for a can of degreaser and 10 minutes of your time. It solved the problem on my Ford Escape (where the light stayed on for three months before I bothered to fix it) and on my friend's Honda CR-V. In both cases, the hood was latched securely, but a build-up of old grease and road grime was preventing the microswitch from closing fully.

There’s no micro switch in the latch. Mostly because there’s no latch.
