High Revs???

Does the 3.6 "like" high RPM's? My 8speed auto sure does shift at pretty low RPM's. I guess that's why it's so smooth. At least once every tank of gas I'll shift into manual and take it to almost redline in a few gears. Anyone else?

Good for the motors to rev them out once in awhile. And yes, they do like to rev high as their peak hp is at 6400 rpm.

So don’t be afraid to rev it out, it’s designed for it

You really gotta mash the accelerator pedal to see anything over 3k RPM without manually shifting yourself. Even with my very hilly commute, the auto trans really likes to stay closer to 2k as often as it can, even when a lower gear makes more sense.

Heard somewhere here that constant low RPMs on this engine isn't a good thing, so probably a good idea to gun it every once in a while to hit midrange and then maybe wind it out manually less often to get a bit higher in the band (Italian tune-up).

Not 100% sure, but I'd think moderate to heavy throttle and load in auto at least once per trip and then make it scream in manual once a tank sounds reasonable.
