I understand this is a common problem and wonder if it's happening across the Stalantis board? Is it time for a class action lawsuit?
It is always best to expand your class action scope to include as many people as possible. Please include my 1997 TJ with a leaky RMS as a lead plaintiff.

Hi All, Last Saturday, I purchased my new to me 2018 JL and very excited to join the family!
When ever I purchase a used new-2-me vehicle, the first task I have are to change fluids so the I have a base point. Unfortunately when I crawled under the jeep and look up to drain the oil, I notices oil where it should be. Upon researching your forum, I see that I have the dredged main bearing leak mentioned here numerous times. The JL has 65,000 and I purchased it from a Jeep dealership here in FL.

Fortunately, they offer a 30 day, 300 mile warranty with their used vehicles, so back to the dealship I go.
If anyone can share some insight, i would greatly appreciate it before i get bent over a barrel at the dealership.

I have an identical pattern, with one additional spot of oil and it is wet in the exact same place. My '21 JLU, 80th Anniversary, 3.6L engine has 56,000 km on it. Still under warranty as well. Going to the dealer at 0800 tomorrow morning.
FWIW, The next day, 09 April 2025. The leak was from the Positive Crankcase Ventilator (PCV) valve. It sits at the rear of the engine bay on the pax side. My rig is still under the full 3year part of the warranty until June but the PCV is not covered. It's a 60 dollar part, they charge for the diagnosis, the part, the cleanup and labour plus our taxation. Came to $413. CAD which is a bit of a drag for a cheap chunk of plastic and a bit of inferior rubber and two screws. Nice service from the dealer though, which means a lot to us as we very much like this JLU as our second vehicle.

Did you find where the oil is coming from yet?

I don't know where you're at with this issue as of now, but I had the same issue. Mine is an '18 with the 3.6. Dealer was adamant that it was the oil filter housing/cooler, I told them I think it was the rear main seal since I could not trace any oil to that area. They blamed it on improper torquing on oil filter cap. They cleaned the area and kept it for a couple of days and said, "Oh look, there's no oil leak anymore!" Then I took it back after leak appeared again. They put dye in the oil and sure enough, not oil cooler, but rear main seal. Total incompetence! Fixed under warranty. Hope that helps.

1. It is common when someone puts too much oil in the engine.

2. I have replaced mine twice. First after I purchased it, second I tried to do a flush and caused it myself.

3. You do need to confirm it’s not the oil cooler.

4. It’s going to be really hard to convince them to fix it. They will call it a ‘seep’ and not a leak.

5. Just wait till you need to have the clutch replaced and do it then. (Assuming MT)

This not a nice forum. I have encountered the same attitude on a few Facebook Jeep groups.
I am a retired Marine and can talk shit with anyone. But a serious question deserves a answer or opinion.

Can be a real harsh crowd here, but when OP buys a 7 year old Jeep with 65,000ml and apparently did not even crawl underneath to take a peek, and then starts talking class action, well - thems fightin' words.... caveat emptor !

Sometimes people make mistakes that they learn from. Helping them along in their learning, so they don't do it again, and can recover the best they can, is the truly manly thing to do. Calling names and pointing at them with laughter is the way 6 year olds act.

But, I was once that jerk, so I get it. Even the jerk needs time to learn how to be a man.

This forum was pretty good previously. If someone posted an issue (regardless how they present it), the responses were always helpful and technical.

Nowadays, it's like bitog forum. A bunch of condescending jerks. lol. The mods are probably enabling this type of behavior.
