Hey ya’ll, I’m looking to add some lights to overland and do some dispersed camping. From my research and given my budget, spot lights on the A pillars would be nice to have, but maybe not necessary if I’m not in a hurry offroad? For more peripheral visibility, I’m looking into mounting flood lights on the stock steel bumper angled out. What do you think?

If that sounds like a good plan, what are some lightning recommendations as well as any thing I need to know for mounting and wiring? I was looking on the KC website, and the C2 lights seem reasonable.

I would use Hella 500 or 700 in driving or fog pattern. You won't likely need for more light, and they are reasonably priced. I had Hella 700 on my JLR and changed them out for KCLites. I've regretted it ever since. My next rig will have Hella 500 (fogs) or 700 (driving).

You can pay more, but you probably won't need more.

ETA: here you go, buy these: https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-005750952-500-Driving-Lamp/dp/B001TWD5KU?th=1

Check out @Diode Dynamics, lots of options and price points for different budgets. I have diode light bars front and rear on my jeep, love them.
Thanks for the mention!

Proudly designed, engineered, and assembled in the US.

I have used Black Oak on my last 2 Jeeps and have been very happy. They are not HF priced but far less than a Baja Designs. Very good light output and IP69 rating for waterproofing. I've never had any issues with fogging or water intrusion. https://www.blackoakled.com/

KC Hilites fan. Have Era4 up front, Era1 on A pillars, and they're SAE/dual fogs. Not cheap but I really like them.

The Harbor Freight units have been getting favorable reviews especially for price point. Keep in mind the HF wiring harness is sold separately tmk.

So happy it is! I always toss the harness in the trash or cut out the usable pieces for the parts bin.

So much easier to just wire them for your application.

Hey @meechy6ix0,

With starting to think about adding some AUX light to the rig. Starting up front vs the A-pillar is a great start! Having as much forward-facing light is ideal for building a lighting package for your needs.

At Baja Designs, we offer a diverse range of lighting options, catering to all levels of off-roading. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned off-road enthusiast, we have the perfect lighting solution for your application. I've included some options below that I believe will work best for you.

Squadron Sports
https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/squadron-sport-black-led-auxiliary-light-pod-pair-universal/

-This light is a great starting point to build out a lighting package and a significant upgrade from your headlights. It delivers powerful illumination. Its versatility makes it suitable for various uses in enhancing your rig's lighting setup. Whether for A-pillars, fog lights, bumper lights, rear lights, or more, this light is a reliable option across multiple applications.

XL Sports
https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/xl-sport-led-auxiliary-light-pod-pair/

-This light is slightly larger than our squadron model. Its size allows for a deeper reflector, enhancing midfield intensity and increased distance coverage.

LP Series
https://www.bajadesigns.com/lp4-automotive-led-off-road-lights/
https://www.bajadesigns.com/lp6-automotive-led-off-road-lights/

-Here are two options that have become very popular in the off-road space. These are our LP Series lights. As they provide an amazing amount of light output and spread, this is an all-in-one light for a front-facing light. With our LP6, they will have a high/low feature that can really help when you need some extra light. Both the LP4 and LP6 will have our ITP ( Integrated Peripheral Technology), which will give you a 200-degree spread of usable light. As well as a backlight feature.

Here are some other links about our lighting zones that may be helpful in deciding on what lens patterns to use.

Best,
Bill
