Found this light bar interesting and want to mount it to my steel bumper.

I'm a little confused about the wiring though. I've seen videos on how to connect lights to the JL aux, but the lightbar I'm looking to get, has 6 modes.
Would this be something I can't install to the JL aux, and just have to use their switch (and installed on the dash)?

That's a great question - I never thought of that. I ran the Oracle Rear Bumper lights to my Aux 4. BUT I am now curious to hear what others think if I ever upgrade to a multi-function light system.

Ah I guess I'll use the supplied switch then. Hopefully I can find a good spot without it looking messy.

If the mode selection is controlled in the light, you can probably use two aux switches to control it. One latching for on/off and one momentary for the mode selection.

How would I wire it? I am far from being competent with electronics.

I can’t say for sure without seeing what’s inside the switch box, but if it is indeed just a momentary switch, red would be +, black - and yellow would be mode select.

I work with a lot of LED warning lights on my fleet vehicles. Many of the switch modes by temporarily grounding the mode wire, while some temporarily apply voltage. You’ll need to verify how yours works before modding anything.

It sounds like you have the factory aux switches, I believe there are both ignition and always on wires both inside the cabin and under the hood. You could wire your switch to either one depending on if you wanted the lights to work with ignition off or if the light bar loses settings when power is removed, use the always on wire. Please double confirm what is under the hood though as I can't recall. There is a diagram somewhere in the threads here.

Am I missing what you are asking? If you want to retain the multi-mode features of this light, you need to use the Auxbeam “SWITCH” controller in the cab to toggle between modes. Any OEM aux switch lead would connect to the “BLADE FUSE” wire to energize the relay, and any other components controlled by the relay. Ground from relay to any body ground.

Or are you asking if a single OEM Aux switch can control the multi-mode features of this light using only the three wires coming out of the light bar?

Yes, could the OEM aux switch control the 6 modes on the auxbeam?

Why wouldn't you wire it up as shown, + to + and - to - and use their switch to turn on/off and change modes? You'd keep your factory aux switches open for other uses

I'm not good at wiring. If I have the wire from the lightbar, which wires to which aux wires? I believe there's a red black and yellow from the lightbar.

I've only installed pods once, and is pretty straight forward, no modes.

So, few things. If you do a search you can find a few forums that discuss AUX Switches and Wiring. In theory the idea is the (Red) Positive is the wire you would connect to an aux switch while the (Black) Negative goes to ground.

So, for example, you would run the Black to Ground, Red to the Aux Switch #4 in either the cabin or Engine bay. Once you hit Aux 4, it powers the lights.

But, to switch modes, you would have to first hit Aux 4, then use the supplied switch to change modes.
