I am going to add a Rigid Ignite light to my rear bumper to supplement my backup lights. It's rated at 12 watts and .85 amps. At first I was going to simply tap off the trailer tow harness and be done. Now I think I want to also be able to turn on/off from my AUX 4 switch. I don't think I need a relay involved but can accomplish with a couple diodes. Does that sound right to you? I'm researching inexpensive diodes on Amazon and not sure which would be the best bet? Any diode recommendations? Links would be great.

@TxJeepers

You just need to use 2 diodes. Read through this thread. Tells you a decent diode brand to use and how to do the install the same install you plan on doing.

Run your wire from Aux switch wire in the engine compartment through the frame rail. It's easy to do.

IF you are not into soldering diodes into the two lines as needed, you can get 2 plug and play diodes instead. I use ROADMASTER 690 Single Park Light Diode $11.00+- offering. Yes, more pricey then solder in diodes but way/stout more hardy, easier to install and yes, will do the job.

Sweet, thanks. Would a single 792 work also? Looks like it will accept to the two incomings with single out to light.

I have wired 3 other's along with my own. I use 2 diodes. One diode is up front right where you pick up the wire in the engine compartment. That one is tape fastened there. The other diode is fastened on to the square beam under the rear bumper ... it is pretty much directly above the tow wire receptacle.
