Yes. It happens when shifting gears.

I will write back once I heard from the dealership.
I have the same sound just heard it the weekend. 5k miles on a 2021 3.6 w/torque. Have you gotten any answers? Thanks!

Hi @gone2trackin I have taken the Jeep 3 times to the dealership and they haven't been able to replicate it. I am waiting for them to lift the covid restrictions so a mechanic can drive with me so I can show him/her. As soon as that happens , I will send an update.

Hi All. I am taking my Jeep tomorrow to the dealership for the third time regarding this noise. The first two times, they couldn't replicate the sound. I manage to place a mic next to the engine and recorded the sound while going up a hill and stopping a few times.

The sound is at 0:13, from 0:28 to 0:44 you can hear it many times

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Engine Noise
100% that's engine knock (ping). Do you know anyone with any kind of data logger? Like a Diablo or superchips tuning device. An on dash device that will show you knock sensor voltages and timing. You should be able to see the knock sensors values go up and timing get pulled whenever you hear that. I'll bet if you log rpm, load, knock sensors and timing you'll be able to find and see those events in the log every time.

Try running 91 octane for a few tanks of gas and see if it goes away. Run your tank pretty low each time so you're diluting the fuel as little as possible.

Hello all. Here is my latest update. Dealer said that it is the gas I used. They put that in writing. I have been using Shell for the last couple of months and still the same noise. No change.

Taking it to another dealer. I do have a new video with the sound.
