Hey guys I’ve been having something leaking from out under my jeep. It seems to be coming from a open hole on the back fire wall area. Does anybody know what this is? Is there supposed to be a hose? What is the fluid? It recently threw a code P0442 referencing a gas leak could this be the problem?

Is the code OP threw not related then?
no, P0442 is "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (small leak)". basically the fuel tank venting system. could be bad gas cap seal, loose gas cap, cracked evap line, cracked gas tank, faulty evap valve... etc.

it has nothing to do with the AC drain line. moisture condenses on the evaporator and drains out the engine bay (thru that hose on his TJ) instead of pooling around your feet. it's a normal function on every car with AC.

if he really wants help, he should ask on a TJ forum, where they can point him to common evap failures on that model.

Dumb question but does the liquid have a smell? I’m leaning toward condensation as well but give the puddle a sniff and get a feel for if it’s just condensed water or not.

It's probably water from the A/C. OP should start with tightening the gas cap. TJs are older and going to have some dried up vaccum and EVAP hoses. I'd have the EVAP system smoked for leaks if a new gas cap does not fix it.
