Hi
I read the link for: You DO want to kill 12v power before working on any electrical connections on your JL/JLU!

and I removed all three one 13mm from neg side of battery and the 10mm and 13mm on the fender,

Now I put the one on battery back on the the other two and it sparks and makes a noise, so I quickly remove the 10mm and 13mm

what should I do??

thank you

Very hard to say, based on the information you provided, but I wouldn't be concerned with a spark when reconnecting everything. This is fairly common. What do you mean by "a noise"?

I'm curious why you disconnected the battery to wire in something to the AUX switches. I never did that, on all 4, with no issues.

the noise was a reset type of mechanical sound, I did reconnect all cable again with luck and small amount of spark.

do you or anyone know the correct way to disconnect, first all the the 10mm red the the all 10mm black then the fenders post 10mm and 13mm

then what's to best way to reconnect once done with AUX wires

thank you

As others have mentioned, there shouldn't be a reason to disconnect everything just to wire an accessory into the aux switches. They have their own fuses, so if you botch something, the fuses will protect the rest of the vehicle. Not sure where you got that information from.

Anyway, the safest way to disconnect and then reconnect would be to first remove all ground wires from the body, before removing any wires from the battery terminals, and then reverse the procedure when reconnecting, ensuring that any sparks when reconnecting are happening at the body mount and not at the battery.

This is only a precaution to prevent igniting any battery off gassing, which could cause an explosion. Personally, I don't bother with this due to the sealed AGM batteries in these vehicles. The chances of that happening would be infinitismally low.

I encourage you, when you do want to do a total 12v power kill to do it as mentioned below...

Also, that spark when you reconnect is normal to see with your JL/JLU.

That looks like a post by a banned member. Not sure why he is saying that. Makes no sense whatsoever.
