Help! Brake controller wire connector the same as under dash?

Hi I picked up a Reese Brakeman controller and red wolf wiring harness as I’m towing a camper for the first time next week.

I had no problem finding the connector under the dash - I do have the tow package.

My problem is that the connector under my dash is the same as the plug on my harness! Both are female I believe - has anyone experienced this? Is there a male/male adapter I need? Or did Amazon lead me astray by saying this will fit my 2020 JLU?

Pics for reference - I’m guessing it’s the wrong harness but why are the connectors identical? Seems odd so wanted to check with the wisdom of the forum before I return and try to find another one in 3 days before my trip!

It's strange but you should have got a female connector from Amazon.

Totally - that’s what I would have expected! That curt one won’t fit my Reese controller tho - but I would rather but the harness vs cut off the connector in my Jeep so I may just buy that one and snip the Curt connector off…

You have the wrong connector - that's for earlier Jeeps. Not sure why they switched it, but you want something like the Tekonsha 3014-p that is female.

That’s a male connector which is what the op needs.

Yeah, I guess it depends if you look at the pins or the plug. Female plug, male pins.

Thank you for sharing that info! I managed to find that exact connector in stock at my local RV dealership here in Calgary! (which blew my mind - parts in stock for a Jeep is crazy talk 99% of the time!)

The previous connector is on it's way back via Amazon return
