Posting this as a PSA to everyone about to remove their soft tops for the winter:
MAKE SURE TO LOCK THE SOFT TOP BEFORE TRYING TO REMOVE IT!
I forgot to this year and almost lost a finger!
Hoping this saves at least one other person from the pain I’m dealing with…😬
I feel like my JLU was doing this even before I added the 35x12.50x17's and the 2.5" Rough Country spacer lift. (Not a real lift I know - but I wanted something mild as it's my daily driver - and still wanted the 35's!)
I don't have anything to add specifically in "things to try" but I do have...
@Jeep Dude I've got 35x12.5's with some mudflaps that do a good job of keeping the tire spray off the windows (depending on the speed that is haha) - but what I'm referring to is definitely not coming from the tires - you can almost see the air pattern on the side window from when it flows...
I tried searching for this but didn't find anything - so I apologize if someone else has already started a thread on this topic!
It's winter here in Canada, and the roads are messy. I've noticed that the side windows always get super dirty right in the area you need to look through to have any...
Amazing pics! Where was the trail you ended up checking out? I might need to add it to our "to-do" list for next year!
Also - what bumper is that on your Rubi? Been looking for an upgrade and it looks like we have very similar taste :)
I researched both and decided to go with the Falken's for the better performance in snow/wet conditions. (this is important for 9/12 months of the year here in Alberta :) )
They are 8-10 lbs heavier as they are E rated - which definitely factors into the decision. My 2.0T is still pretty decent...
I don't think you'll be able to fit 37's on the stock mount - I have 35's and they hit the bumper just slightly. In terms of weight - because my tire hits the bumper it actually holds it night and tight, and provides a bit of help with the weight. I haven't added anything to the tailgate yet as...
I've seen a few posts here about doing chalk tests and I've done that - but I'm curious what other people's experiences are with their 35's?
I'm running 35x12.50R17 Falken Wildpeak's that are E rated - I know - I didn't know about the weight ratings until after I had purchased - but there...
I'm looking at fab'ing some mounts for a jack/fire extinguisher/etc and was wondering if anyone has the bolt size/thread for the threaded holes in the roll cage? I'm looking at the ones near the back on the JLU roll cage. I tried searching but didn't come up with anything...
Interesting - I didn't see that part of the manual - will have to make a conscious effort to let it idle when stopping!
I was playing around with offroad pages today - sure would have been nice if they showed you turbo temps in there hey?
Isn't there some sort of cooler that stays running to cool the turbo down even after you shut off the engine? I've never even thought about turbo temps until I saw this thread as the dealer told us to expect to hear something running after you shut off the engine...something related to the turbo?
I put on 17x9 -12 offset rims with 35x12.50 Falken AT's - I would have preferred a little less poke but it does look aggressive. (couldn't find a 0 offset rim that I liked in my price range ;))
I added some mud flaps before winter hit to try and protect the door hinges/rear fender from flying...
I saw these on wish.com and it got me thinking - I wonder if a thin piece of abs/plastic could be cut to the exact hinge size/shape and installed between the door and the hinge itself? (Like this product but for underneath the hinges?)

This would prevent the corrosion...
I tried searching but couldn't find anyone else posting this issue. When I'm driving in broad daylight, if I turn on the intermittent wipers my lights will turn on. Then when I turn off the wipers, the lights immediately turn off as well.
I've tested this over the span of a few days and it's...
I've got the 2.5" RC lift and have been considering both of these options as they are the same price roughly:

Mine does this as well - tested with both 87 and 91 octane. I was surprised as well but was told this is "normal" due to the turbo. Sounds like maybe it is? It goes away once the engine starts warming up every time.
@joe@upr
Hey Joe - do you guys have a version for the 2.0T yet? I've been watching the Mishimoto threads and since I live in high altitude I'm worried about throwing CEL lights. If UPR has a viable option I'm very interested! (didn't see anything about the 2.0T on your site tho...)
