If the light from the working heedlight is yellowish, its halogen, if blue/whiteish its LED.

Pop the hood, and check the connections, if they seem ok, take it in under warranty.

Halogen bulb is probably less than $20 and an easy replace, I'd do that before taking in to dealer just because my time is worth more than the $20. But again, it depends on if you have halogen or LED, LEDs are a few hundred.

This.

If the profile pic is the real Jeep- itā€™s an LED light.

Same concept, but you wonā€™t be able to fix a bad ā€œbulbā€ yourself. Check the connections and see if anything looks off. Car washes can mess with loose wiring.

If all that is good, itā€™s a dealer deal. You just need to have it looked at and/or replaced. There isnā€™t a Johnny Mechanic way to fix it.

And as others have (rightfully) noted, donā€™t go full throttle when asking a question on a forum. Reading the responses, they were saying the same thing. Not 100% sure what the state of residency has to do with it- even if strictness in law is in play. The question you asked had the same answer...

How could someone not know if they have LED's or not?? They look completely different. They are an extra $900 so you would think someone would notice that, or maybe not.

Especially when they make a point of saying what they spent on their Jeep, and put down people who didnā€™t spend as much as them.

Has anyone had a headlight fail? It just went dead, like thereā€™s an electrical issue. If this has happened, what was the issue?

I know Iā€™ll be taking a trip to the dealership, just curious if anyone else had this happen..?
Hello MKB,

Please keep us updated on this concern going forward. If you decide to schedule an appointment with your dealer, we can provide an additional layer of assistance while in service, if needed just send us a PM.

If the gentleman doesn't know whether he has halogens or LED's....or if he doesn't have the know how to simply "look" at the affected headlamp to see if its still plugged in....then all the advice he is given here is for nothing.
The BEST advice everyone gave was for him to take it to the dealership and let them sort it out.
NO doubt..... he is going to be well known to the Jeep service dept. No doubt that he is already a we'll known customer to whatever service dept that he was using before the new JL.
He is still a Proud Jeep JL owner....who is actually "4Wheeling" his Jeep. And along with 4 wheeling often things break or fail. If we were on the trail with him, EVERYONE would be lending a helping hand or advice. If he were located near me, I would help him out rather than letting him leave his rig at the dealership for "who knows how long".
If no one is available, perhaps the dealership is the best advice..........but lets not forget that teaching each other and lending a hand IS a JEEP THING.....just like the wave.

Oh yes. Been on both ends of that spectrum. Broke a steering knuckle once and it took a massive effort to get it off the trail. Needed all offering hands for that nightmare. Iā€™ve also never passed a fellow jeeper in need. However, act like that and youā€™re on your own. You can hike out and catch an Uber.

Just curious. How do you know the OP had LED headlights? I see the OPā€™s profile pic which is a rear view.

Miah, you have to realize that when you ask a question like that people may not know if youā€™re serious. 99.9% of people would not consider a bad headlight a reason to panic which is why you received the response. Also, anyone who purchases a new car typically understands that a bumper to bumper warranty for at least 36k miles means itā€™s covered. I have been on several car forums and the people here are some of the friendliest/funniest folks out there. BTW, it further rubs folks the wrong way when you tell them not to respond w/ negative comments.

And is too ignorant to realize that the Jeep he said was so inferior is the same damn trim level. I guess he missed the large Rubicon sticker on the hood. What a tool. Take that crap elsewhere
