For those that don't mind haggling with dealers, were you able to buy a new Wrangler for less than 7% below invoice?

If you had a trade or opted for things like rust proofing and warranties, I can see how a dealer will 'sell' 7% below invoice but will come out way ahead of that in the end.

So who's done better than the 'forum deals'? Share your strategy here.

Beating 7% sounds like it would be a negative profit deal. But not sure myself nothing like that offered around here.

It maybe possible, but the time probably isn’t worth it… At the price of these vehicles, you need a modest income and it’s safe to assume our time is worth something (same for the dealers).

I got 8% below at Criswall in Sept 2019 in a 2020 Rubi.

7% without flying from CO to MA and the gas/hotel back probably would have been a better deal, but I just looked at it as a free road trip where I only had to pay for half the gas.

No doubt some of the forum deals are really good. I enjoy the car buying process, including negotiating, but do it on my terms and not sitting at a dealership for hours.

I called one Jeep dealer today and they are asking $3k over MSRP for anything on the lot, and factory orders were MSRP. This same dealership brand owns another Jeep store less than 2 hours away who are selling below invoice.

The best offer I have is 7% below invoice on a factory order. I think I could beat this in a few months as interest rates rise and cools demand. I'm hoping Jeep may add incentives towards the end of the year, so if my build is delivered then, I could take advantage of cash back. Who knows. ?‍♂

I got 7% under invoice on a '22 rubicon with extreme recon. I ordered in Novemeber, so right before the multiple price hikes. When my Jeep came in April 2022, they honored original price from last November minus 7%. I don't know how I could've beat that, especially being a local dealer. The only difference will be dealer fees, which some dealers charge crazy fees and others normal $300ish.

7% is the benchmark for a great deal at the moment

Back in 2019 I go 20% below MSRP on a 2019 lot sport S. I don't know if that beats 7% below invoice. But it was a hell of a deal for a lot vehicle. Yeah I had to haggle a lot. And had about 4 offers on the table with other dealers. I called one of the other dealers right in front of the salesman ("finance guy") at the dealer where I bought.

He did not want to remove some bullshit add-ons and was really pushy about that dumb extended warranty.

I said "ok, give me 1 minute" picked up my phone, call the other dealer right there. "Hey, do you have have X wrangler ready? I can go pick it up right now, these are the terms these guys are giving, would you match and drop the dealer add-ons?" Finance guy didn't let me walk out of the dealer, he was clearly very pissed. We finished the deal in about 2 minutes and he basically told me to go away and enjoy my new jeep. lol.

Next time I am finding a forum deal and not dealing with all the crap.
