Looking for some advice. I am having a 2025 Rubicon X transported via car carrier from Florida to Colorado and requested and paid for a safe top level position. The carrier placed it on a middle rack and predictably the back or the fiberglass roof was damaged. Photo included. Has anyone experienced this mishap or this type of damage and does it make more sense to go to a Jeep dealer for a new roof or a body shop for a repair.

Screw the dealerships. Take it to a body shop that specializes in fiberglass repair. Yours should be easier, since it is a painted top. Just my opinion.

Sounds like the trucking company didn’t do what you opted and paid for, and they owe you for the cost of repair / replacement. No recourse, there?

Should all be on the trucking company, apparently you didn’t get what you paid for since they located the Jeep in a different area then requested.. I’d want new but you might want to read into the truck line agreement, I’m sure there’s probably something in there hidden on any damages.. At the least, they should be paying since it happened while transporting…

Assuming the transport company has insurance to fix damage.
a lot depends on their adjuster. They may only pay for repair and not cost of replacement.
that is very repairable damage for someone who works with fiberglass along with a full top repaint it would not be noticed.

Personally I would pressure them for new top.

A friend of mine works at port of Baltimore. All he does is body work repair on new cars that get damaged during shipment before they go to the dealers.
more cars then we know of have had body repairs that are new

Had a little trouble with a tree during our last snowstorm. Fortunately I was able to buff this out.

Fun ones!
Why do you have to opt for a special service when transporting a Jeep? What makes it different than say a Defender? Seems odd you have to make a special selection.

To avoid oil spills on a canvas top for one. And two to avoid the type of roof damage you see in the photo when the idiot driver hits a bump too hard

I damaged mine and took the top off and took it to a Corvette body shop for repair.

I always wondered about that. Can you imagine buying a new car that has body putty. May make sense bringing a magnet with you when taking delivery. I once bought a Bronco years ago that had an imperfection on the hood and before I even saw the car the dealer said they always check with a customer before breaking factory paint

This type of damage is what makes me think twice about buying from a remote discount dealer and shipping the Jeep home. That and the inability to inspect the Jeep for smaller cosmetic issues normally spotted during pre-delivery inspection at the dealer lot.

I guess that’s why they are remote and discount. The savings come with that extra risk.
