I just picked up a 21 Hardtop. It didn't come with the extra top insulation.

I plan to order the mopar kit.

I assume this is a single person job.

Does this kit need extra adhesive?

Dont want to put it up to have to take it down and redo it.

Thx

I don't know about the Mopar HL Kit, I installed the Hot Head and it was really easy and made a huge difference inside. It was an easy install.

Mopar one is considered trash compared to aftermarket (for lower price). Shop around!
Yes, it's a one-person job once the top is removed and turned upside down on the grass lawn or on a tarp. Even the dealers won't try to install those foam patties with the roof installed even if it takes them more time and they can charge more hours.

I have used Hothead Liners twice now and i would not consider anything else. Customer service and videos are great. They give a military discount if that applies to you. Quality of the product and ease of installation could not be better. I have also heard that the Mopar kit is substandard to the Hothead Kit.

I installed the Mopar headliner last year. I found the quality excellent and it was easy to install. No extra adhesive needed. I have a 2020 Rubicon 2 door.

Can I ask why are you are thinking about getting a headliner?

I am looking to reduce wind noise, increase insulation for heat reduction/retention as the weather conditions require.

Just an opinion...I would spend a season or two in hot and cold before spending this. For me it was never worth the cost to add the insulation. The hardtop is already very quiet (by Wrangler standards). And after all that, you will still get wind noise anyways around the mirrors and windshield at any speed above 50mph.

The JL A/C is excellent even on the soft top, and so is the heater, so not even sure the insulation will make a big difference to the driver. Yes, the BestTop videos show cooler temp on the inside of the removable panels, but since heat rises driver won't feel a huge diff. You just got the jeep. I wouldn't rush it, imho.

My 2022 392 has the mopar cold weather kit. It is cooler to my bald head when I get in.

Not saying its a gotta have, just a nice to have.

I am not too worried about the costs.

More worried about quality and durability of installed products.

IMO, the headliner improves the look and feel of the interior. It also improves the sound quality of radio. Less sound bounce.

As far as temperature control and road noise, ever so slightly. Not enough to make a difference.
Jeep Wranglers are just noisy.

I have had a oem mopar on my last jk and now have a hotheads liner and i would not do a hotheads liner again. Not worth it for me. Very little sound difference as proved by a decibel meter. They look fine but not something i would do again

Is it possible that the Mopar headliners are manufactured by Hothead, as is the case with the Mopar Sunrider and Bestop?
