Does anyone use this to remove their tops? Goes on the hitch so it is portable. Wish I could find a used one 900.00 is steep.

Pics or links would be helpful. I am a bit nervous to Google Hard Top Buddy. Sounds like I might get some NSFW results and start getting targeted ads for Grinder. 🤷‍♂️

I do have experience with the Harken hoist, but that doesn't seem like what you are looking for.

That looks pretty neat. But for $900 I would put that money towards a soft top.

I saw this or something very similar at the Jeep Beach vendor show. The hitch mount and portability is nice, but I don't like the idea of leaving my hardtop on the ground somewhere. IMO, something like the TopLiftPro is a lot easier to use and is also a storage solution for the hardtop. Not as easy to take on a trip with you. So it really depends on how you plan on using it.

I don’t have a garage and need to put it on the ground on a tarp. The other lifts can’t put it on the ground and they don’t look sturdy enough to hold it up there with the wind.

Soft top is out of the question. I typically have my son help me remove it but he isn’t always around. For me, this would be perfect.

I have this one and I love it. I think I’ve gotten it down to about 8 minutes to put the top on or take it off. I’m able to park the hood under it too. I know it isn’t American Made, but the money saved made cents (miss spelling intentional)
Vevor Jeep Top Lift

I had never heard of Vevor before but honestly everything g I’ve bought off there so far has been good.

If only I had a garage. I can’t leave it that high out in the elements. Would most likely tip over

Yeah that’s not really the problem. I need to be able to set the top down so wind doesn’t blow it over.

It looks very handy but then the top is sitting on the ground and then what do you do? But go ahead and get it and then you can let us know how it works out. :)

What about something like this:
eTrailer Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hitch Mounted Hoist
There are some customer pictures there showing it being used to lift a camper top on a truck. Should be able to handle a Jeep hard top if rigged correctly. You would just need a bar and a few straps to connect it to the top.

It appears you just leave the straps and crossbar connected to the top, then disconnect the hook connected to the cable. That way you can breakdown the lift, go about your business, then put it all back together and pick up the top when you are ready to go.

It looks like a neat tool that will help in very specific cases like the OP has.

@Laz here is some info on the JK forums didn't read it all, but looks like people balk at the price and make a DIY contraption instead
