Good morning folks, simple question, how do you solve the issue with the half door windows not staying tight to the frame at 50mph and up? As I traveled to the Gatornationals this weekend, it was an issue with the wind and rain. Nothing got in, but, the noise level was fighter jet level. Help!

Wait. The soft door uppers are noisy? Phew, glad I never got the half doors then. ;)
There is literally zero on the market for anything OEM half doors. The solution I think would be to run your full doors when you want to hit the highway.

Did you do the thing where you adjust the uppers with a screwdriver so they pull tighter into the body? I don't have them but I watched a video where the installer got it to the point where they put a dollar bill between the upper and the body and couldn't pull it out when closed.

I have half doors on mine. Only a 2 door, not sure if yours is 4 door?? I’m sure it’s a little noisier, but I don’t really notice. Drive 10 miles or so interstate each way to work. If they are loose, you can adjust them to be tighter against the frame. If it’s just a noise issue, I’d go with the previous response & put the full doors on for longer trips.

Quite simple actually. They are 2 zippers windows. All you have to do is leave the horizontal part of the window unzipped by only zipping the laterals, the vaccum created by the highway speed will pull the upper unzipped part of the window towards the outside and let pressure out and the window tight to the frame.

a bit of rain will enter, but at least it wont drive you crazy.

I’m on my 5th wrangler and 3 of them had soft upper windows. 2 of them year round.

I second this. The reality of soft doors is that they will bow out at highway speeds. Adjusting them per the video above does help some, but leaving them “cracked” will stop them from bowing out.

The JL uppers do seem to be much better than previous models, though.

My gripe with them is with the placement of the clear vinyl. I hate that separator between the two clear portions of the front uppers.

Do you not like the way they look or does the separator block outward visibility? Just curious as I keep waffling on getting them for my 2dr build.

Both, but mostly because of visibility. It’s just annoying having that strip right there in a place you’re used to being able to see through.

It doesn’t really matter for me though because I park in a garage, so the uppers are barely ever on. Once the weather gets colder, the full doors go back on.

Thanks for the input. I think it will be attempted on my next trip to Daytona Beach.

Yeah it sounds like you should either run them with no uppers or just put the full doors on. Luckily I too have a parking situation where I can be seasonal.

This is unfortunately not true. Got the premium uppers ony JLUR. They bow out unless the windows are at least half open. I asked the jeep

Unfortunately this doesn't work with the premium uppers on my JLUR. And the Mopar video on how to adjust them is incredibly confusing. And even if you think you may have it figured out you have to adjust put them back in, see how it fits, adjust again, put them back in, see how it fits... I had a TJ with half doors and never had this issue. The structure of the uppers is completely different on the JL. All plastic. I seriously wonder if it's going to snap when I'm driving. I asked the dealership about it today and, not-so-surprisingly, they had never heard of this issue. ??‍♀ Was hoping to find help here. I'll keep looking. Someone must have figured this out by now.

I drove to Florida with them not adjusted and it was terrible. Much better after adjustment. What I will say is I made them really tight so that the window has to bend outward when shut. The adjustment process is pretty dumb also lol.

Can you explain exactly how you did the adjustment? Or do you know of a better YouTube video than what Mopar offered? I was so confused.
