Our local weather in Dallas started broadcasting about an upcoming storm with baseball sized hail expected and all I could think about was my poor JL sitting out and getting pummeled. So I lept into action and covered the hood, the windshield, and the roof with good old inexpensive Harbor Freight moving blankets and using bungee cords from (you guessed it) Harbor Freight, I strapped down the blanket across the hood and roof. I even tucked the edge of the blankets inside of the door edges.
I know it won't help a total onslaught of hail, but thought it might help. As it turned out, the hail just missed our house and covered lawns with golf ball sized hail just a mile or two north of us. But more are predicted with less severity overnight, so the blankets stay put for now.
The question(s) to all of you with Jeeps that sit outdoors, what do you do to protect your Jeep? Anybody have any better ideas? I quickly looked on Amazon and found a $300 inflatable balloon type structure, but that seems like a bit of overkill and a bit much to do when the hail storms are threatening overnight. I'm not sure the neighbors want to see me out there inflating a balloon over my Jeep in my skivvies at o'dark thirty in the morning.
