American GPS system runs on a calendar system. It originally was/is a 10 bit weekly counter which would be accurate for about 20 years. April 6 is the reset date. Supposedly most GPS units younger than 10 years old should work fine. But older units (handhelds?) may not reset correctly. This will probably cause noticeable location errors. The reset system will automatically switch to a 13 bit week counter good for 157 years.
My 2015 Mustang's GPS system was built by Nokia/Garmin and they 'forgot' to include any lakes in Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin! The only way to include lakes was to buy a new $150 memory chip!
So I am not too trusting about Garmin units (who I believe is the manufacturer for our UConnect units).
If your GPS unit starts to give incorrect locations, please let the rest of us Forum members know.
