Guess I need to get on a local dealer and possibly contact @JeepCares . Just so disgusted dealing with dealers lately. Having to watch mine sit in the driveway since the dealer screwed up on the Tags.
Same. Dealers have been extra scummy lately. And that’s rough. I’m sorry to hear.

Hold on-I had the same thing happen to myself and regardless if there was a chip or not it's still GC, I have a great dealership they took pictures submitted it and well three weeks later I got it fix. If possible go to another dealer seems to me someone doesn't want to do their friggin job. Best of luck. Keep the Jeep wave going.
Always waving??

Or the Flexibility of the glass is causing issues at the factory. I'm still not convinced that the GG isn't coming out of the factory pre-stressed and the first rock chip releases the stress. Like I said my normal glass in my 19 JLUR took an outright beating before I goofed up and didn't repair it soon enough. It would be interesting to know someone had the GG replaced and broke another.

The Gorilla layer is on the inside. The outside is the same old glass it always was. This option is absolutely not worth it.

It would seem that they havent prestressed it. I’ve been reading posts on other forums of the exact same thing happening to them. Idk what else it could be. I’m about to get mine replaced and since jeep is coving it I’ll get another GG one installed. So we’ll see if it ends up being any better.

It’s actually a coating on the glass that ionizes the glass. I’m thinking it makes the glass so ‘hard’ that it has almost no flex and since Little Rock’s don’t cover as much surface area, it’s able to chip the glass. And at that point, the stress is released and the crack spreads like a wild fire.

Seems like it could also be do to temperature changes at night. Causing random cracks. That’s happening to a lot of people also. All signs of glass that has too much ‘stress’. I think @X99104 is right.

I bought it because like a few of the other options It was only $200. But if it breaks, and they don't cover it, I'll just put in a regular windshield. I'll pay for it with the refund I get from cancelling my extended warranty :)

Too bad I can't order one of those cheap Chinese 9H phone glass protectors from Amazon. The one on my phone is incredible ;)

The Gorilla layer is still on the inside though.

If the windshields were mounted using a rubber gasket vs adhesive, they would not have near the amount of stress on them and cracks would be far less frequent.

Wrangler doesn’t need a bonded windshield for increased structural integrity as it has a roll cage built inside the windshield frame.

I won't deny there are scummy dealers, but for this particular issue the problem isn't the dealers, it is FCA/Stellantis. The dealers don't decide what is and isn't covered. The dealer triage's the problem, in this case they take pictures, and submits the claim to FCA for approval. FCA is the one saying it isn't covered, not the dealer. Granted some dealers will do little to nothing to appeal the denial.

I'm fighting this exact battle right now. My claim was denied by FCA because the "damage was due to road debris/rock chips. Rock chips/road debris damage is not covered under the warranty". This denial reason is in direct contradiction with what the warranty states. The warranty says “Mopar warrants your windshield from damage associated with road debris such as pebbles or other small objects..."

The lady at my dealer that handles warranty claims is helping me to get this approved. At this point I don't know if it will or not. But I've been driving with a cracked windshield for four months now. I can wait another few months.

It is very frustrating, and doesn't need to be.

That’s true. However, in my case the dealer never even tried to submit it. Then when I finally got them to submit it they said that ‘owner states windshields cracked due to rock’ which isn’t at all what I was telling them. I was actually arguing that there was zero evidence of a rock impact. While they insisted a spot in the crack was the ‘impact mark’ that was literally a sand grain.

To which I replied, “if that broke this glass what the hell did I pay extra for” lol.

Pretty upset right now. I picked up my new JL last month and ended up getting GG option. Not even a month in and it cracked seemingly on its own. Assuming it looked like a clear manufacturer defect, I thought it would be covered. The dealership I took it to said they WOULDNT cover it because of some speckle on the crack that he believed to be a ‘point of impact’. I told him 1) that’s ridiculous 2) the Mopar website shows a 2yr warranty for the GG windshield regardless. So, he submitted the pictures and stated “it had cracked due to pebble chip” and FCA Denied covering it!! They said there is “no additional warranty for the GG Windshield”. I’m very confused bc not only does it show a warranty online but FCA customer care said it should be covered? I feel like I’m being scammed here …

I had a non-Gorilla glass window covered under warranty on a 2018 JLU that was over 2 years old, but under 36,000 miles... It cracked on a really cold night as soon as I turned on the defroster. Dealer submitted photos and it was approved immediately.
