Setting up GoPro Hero 11. Plan on trying it in several different locations a few of which will be outside the Jeep. Thinking I should get a protective case to handle flying rocks/debris, dust & the unexpected rain/moisture. GoPro sells this one for a lot more then Amazon sells this one. I'm not go to be talking this underwater (intentionally). Anyone have any experience with either of these?

Rain doesn't hurt it at all. It's waterproof to 10 meters as is out of the box. I never put anything on mine, just suction cup it to the hood and go. I use a hose to clean it, or just throw it in your pool if you have one.

Get the official accessory if you really think you need it.

Been using GoPros since the first one was released. They used to come with that protective case but have since done away with it. You don’t really need it.
If you want to be proactive about your lens buy a couple replacement lenses and you’re good to go. I have replaced a lens a few times and it’s great that you can do that now. Wasn’t always a thing.
I’ve beat the hell out of mine and have yet to have one fail because of the environments I’ve subjected it to.

edit * that includes dropping one (Hero 7) overboard and “losing” it for a month in the Atlantic. Found it and I still use it to this day.

Thanks for the advice. I'll guess I'll just use basic screen protectors.

Good buying the 11. The 12 is worthless for offroading - no GPS, can't make bitchen videos later with telemetry and mapping.

Telemetry??? I guess I've got lots of learning to do.
G force, speed, rotation, location etc....

Tame video....but shows what I mean. The GoPro records all of that data and I use a piece of software called Telemetry Overlay to make the video using that data.

Long-time GoPro user here, going back to the Hero 3+ Black. What I can suggest is keeping a spare protective case on hand. In my experience, they're consumables since they're not constructed as robustly as they could be. This is doubly true given your intended use case.

I'm now at the point where I use the lower-cost Amazon-sourced cases, since they provide about the same protection and practical service life as does the costlier OEM product. Pro Tip: the less you open and close the case latch to insert or remove the camera, the better.

I don't recommend exposing the camera to the elements, etc. sans any protection, but it's only your money so best of luck. ;)

The newer models don’t need a separate case. It’s integrated into the existing housing and the lens is easily replaceable now.
