So, I currently had a trip to MI. While I was there I got a Gladiator Mojave as my rental. It had the 3.6L in it just like my High Tide. But it seemed to have a lot more get up and go than mine does. Why would that be? Its brakes were 10x better to and I thought both had the same set up there. Thanks.

No they not the same set up.

Lord knows I wish they would port the Mojave over the rest of the Jeep line.

I don't all the details but the Mojave is set up to run the Sand Dunes, it's a sand buggy and the undercarriage is different a lot of different stuff Vs the rest of the line. It brought out to be the "Rubicon" of the Sand Dunes like in Glamis.

They are a great rig, hard to come by....

Which parts are not the same? The brakes or engine tunes? Still unsure why it would have more get up and go or stop on a dime. My brakes are more soft than that.

The suspension is different, fox shocks, the Rubicon and Mojave have same axles 4.10, different transfer cases, different steering components also with Mojave being stronger.

The Gladiator probably just has larger and better brakes as a general rule for towing.

They are not hard to come by at least where I live. Probably more Mojave than Rubicon JTs sells.

I understand the suspension is different. I am asking why if the Gladi has the same engine as my High Tide why did it have more get up and go. Also, I thought the High Tide and Mojave both had HD brakes and same axles. Granted my HT has 4:56 gears. So with the same brakes and axles, why did it stop better than my own?

Exactly the same engine same power. JT has larger rear brakes and double the towing capacity I think.

From what dealer said Rear JT is unique to the Gladiator but share front I think it is with Wrangler HD etc.

I RARELY see on or even one on a LOT. Bought 2 JT-R looked everywhere for a Mojave both times and just not found in Texas.

Weird guess they are popular in Alaska and Texas. Probably 15 sitting on lots or in transit right now could pick it up this morning :)

Odd then. I know the one I drove took off better than mine. I wouldnt think the gearing would have much to do with it since the Gladiator had smaller gears.

As for brakes, wouldnt the fronts being the same make them stop the same. Most of your stopping power is up front anyway. The Gladiator was pretty firm and stopped much easier. Just trying to figure out if there is something going one with mine that I need to get looked at.

Yeah good point, I am sure others with the XR package can chime in.

No way the Gladiator should have felt peppier. Your High Tide has 4.56s vs 4.10s in the Gladiator. With it on 33s and you on 35s, they should have felt... the same.

I will say this: Gladiators ride much better than JLs due to the longer wheelbase. Combine that with the fancy shocks on the Mojave and the JT would feel like a Cadillac.

Yeah, I do not understand why it felt peppier either or why it stopped so much better.

As for ride quality, it rode worse. But I blame that on them having the tires at 41 when I picked it up. The bed area seemed to rattle quite a bit also. Controlling it was a bit better though for sure. It wasnt terrible. I loved driving it while I was there vs any Prius the rental place may have given lol

It may seem to stop better because of the smaller tire diameter. Less rotational inertia to try to contain. I really can't understand why it would seem peppier. My JLUXR really surprised me as far as get up and go.

Each tire on your high tide Carrie's more mass per wheel than the Mojave. There is a different trans tune also.

Thanks to both of you. Guess that would make sense. I didnt think about the heavier tires.

Its not that my Jeep wont go, it does, I just think the Mojave moved quicker.

On a side note though, I think the few times I have punched it in the HT and hit over 5K RPMs, it burned a bit of oil. When I changed it last it wasnt completely full. Maybe an 1/8th down on the stick. I assume due to punching it :D LOL
