Anyone know the nut size for the post extended from the main negative cable? Initial research led me to M6-1 but that didn’t work and appears to be for a different part of the battery connection. I tried M7, 8, 10. None worked. Finally found that 5/16-18 might be the right size. Bought one today with a flange. Nope, doesn’t work. I FINALLY found one random nut in my stash that worked but it’s not zinc and doesn’t have a flange, so I’d like to get the proper one. I’ve added a photo below to make it clear which one I’m talking about.

I found this (https://www.quadratec.com/p/omix-ad...SpulqxEhnC2pKE4OiduDwasmKsRD1M2YaAiHFEALw_wcB) but I’m not inclined to spend the money since I got one the same size and it didn’t work. Maybe they have a special thread?

Frustrating for what should be a simple nut. The positive cable extensions all have nuts on them.

I’d just take the nut you have that you know fits to Lowe’s and see what size it is. They have that board with all the sizes on it so you can test fit. Then just buy the nut you want.

Finally found the correct size. M8-1.25. Silly how difficult some information is to find.

@IronScott

Yup, can confirm that is the correct size.

Dd not see your original post or I would have given you the info.

I just acquired a Wing Nut in that size to use for easy disconnect of the ESS neg. cable.

Wing nut is definitely a good idea. I thought about that a couple weeks ago but it didn’t cross my mind at the store today. I just grabbed this one on a whim, because I knew the M8 was close but the threads didn’t work. Hopefully HD has the wing nuts in that size. That would be handy.
