I'm not sure it's a weld issue. I thought it was, but after dead lifting 6 or 7 times, I found it was a flange running from the frame to the bumper frame. I loosened the bolt, slid the bumper on, bolted and torqued everything down. It ended up being an easy install.I've read on here that people were having a hard time lining the bumper up. It's not a smittybilt problem but a jeep problem. The spot where metal is doubled up and welded is overshadowed so you have to drill out the holes even.
Mine definitely had overshadowed holes. I took the smittybilt 3 bolt bracket that lines up to the jeep mounting point and it would not go through the holes because of the overshadowing. I drilled the holes even all the way through and had no problems lining bumper up.I'm not sure it's a weld issue.
