For those that got your black hardtops color match painted, was it worth it? Holding up well?

Since the black hardtops/freedom panels have a texture finish it just needs to be sanded down then painted right? Any structural integrity issues to be aware of from doing this or is it pretty simple?

I'm seeing quotes from body shops for $1-1500 which is way cheaper than trying to buy a hardtop secondhand so it sounds enticing

It's a 2 door hardtop that I want painted white to match so it shouldn't be too hard for any body shop to do correctly?

The tops are the same. The black ones have texture added, then a single stage coat of matte black paint. Many here have has theirs sanded smooth and painted. Make sure you find a really good shop that leaves no hint of texture behind, or sanding marks. The biggest challenge is removing the side glass. Or, if you don't want to pay extra to remove the glass, masking it well, and getting paint down around it.
