Gas smell

Occasionally when I hope into my JLUR and just move it out of the garbage or just basically move it a short distance then shut it off I get a horrible gas smell. I have literally taken a look under the Jeep to see if gas was leaking and one time I went and counted my gas cans to make sure I didn’t run one over. I had the Jeep in the dealer yesterday for other warranty work and they of course count replicate it and said they have not heard of any complaints like this. Any ideas out there????

Are you parking your Jeep with a bunch of Toyotas...just kidding about your misspell of Garage!! Couldn't resist, sorry!!!

I park my JL in a garage (home) and do not find what you're speaking of? Perhaps you should get it checked out by another dealer? Actually if they cannot replicate, pretty tough to figure out unless they've a previous owner with same. Good luck!

Does it go away once the Jeep is warmed up?

It’s hit or miss when happens so yes I would say it goes away.

Well the Jeep is going back into the dealership next week so hopefully it happens while it is there. I’m not expecting a lot from these guys. While the Jeep was in the shop last week I told them about the “Charlie Brown“ effect I have going on and they blamed it on the radio. Even after I showed them how people are fixing the issue.

My 2018 JL Rubicon just started doing this after driving two years without this happening. Dealer said it was normal, but I do not believe them.
Hoping for an answer to fix this same issue!

I'd like to know this, too. Our 2020 2.0L turbo Recon still has the strong gas smell that just started a few weeks ago. The dealer says it is common for this in colder weather. They had it for 8 days and could not find the source, although they said they could smell it, too.

It seems to be more noticeable when the tank is at least half full. MY wife insists that she does not top off the tank when filling it up and it's her dd. Service department weighed the charcoal canister to see if it had any fuel in it and did not find any. No obvious leaks underneath or under the hood.

I never did get the problem figured out. I have since made the switch to the JT and it will do the same thing. Again dealer says it's normal. Basically they have no idea what's going on, so it's normal.
