This is a first world problem, but I just wanted to vent a little bit.

The engineers worked really hard to build a vehicle like the Rubicon. Their customer teams got lots of feedback from the community, and gave us something we can really appreciate.

Then the dealers are morons and can't figure out what a Rubicon is for.

There's the occasional stripped Rubicon, being sold on price point. Fine. But it seems like if a dealer is going to order a few options on it, they are adding things like leather, LEDs, stereo, cold weather group, and other "luxuries," but not getting the steel bumpers, electrical package, and diesel.

I wish Jeep would make the Sahara the more apparent "luxury" model so the mall crawlers would orient towards them, and then configure the Rubicons like someone is going to drive it off-road. I think if they jacked up the price on the Sahara more, people would buy them just because they are the "most expensive" Wrangler. I can't think of any explanation of why people buy a Wrangler with lockers they will never turn on if it's not because the price makes the Rubicon a status symbol.

Anyway, thanks for the air time. Back to our regularly scheduled program.

As to the buying a Rubicon but not using the locker comment, in my case I doubt I will need the lockers and I would bet I’ll NEVER use the sway bar disconnect either. But I want the lower 4.10 gear ratio and the bigger brakes. If just those options were available stand alone on the Sahara, I would not need the Rubicon.

My opinion on more Rubicon items:
Hood: Cool, but the flat looks good, too. Wish the Rubi vents were functional.
Red dash- Meh. I prefer the leather.
Tall fenders- Take it or leave ā€˜em. Nice for my intended 35’s though.
Red tow hooks- Hate ā€˜em.
Red stitching- Meh.
Better resale- Non-issue. I keep my vehicles 10+ years.

So, I’m totally in that category of someone who will likely buy a Rubicon but will never use it to its potential.

Good point. Another indication they should probably upmarket the Sahara.

Just a few more option boxes would work. Having optional rear gear ratios is pretty standard on new vehicles these days. Especially trucks.
Or make it easy Jeep...make lower gears and bigger brakes part of the tow package. Easy peasy.

Cant be further from the truth. Majority of people who buy these dont even intend to use the Rubicon features, ans just like it for the looks. So adding LEDs and creature comforts appeals to them. Just because it doesn't fit your idea of what a Rubicon should have, doesn't mean it'll stop happening. Why not build the Wrangler you want and stop complaining? Oh right, I forgot, gotta jump on the dealerships for not reading your mind!

Sounds like I touched a nerve with you, I'm sorry if this offended you in some way.

And to answer your snarky question, you can't order a Jeep right now. The factory is completely shut down.

I wonder if it's a regional thing. Steel bumpers and the tow package seem to be pretty standard on Rubicons around here.

I bet you're right. Texas is flat as a pancake, and softroads are about as crazy as it gets without travelling.

Dealers stock vehicles with trim levels and options that they know will sell and move quickly off the lot. This strategy works and most people are satisfied with purchasing what’s in stock. Your dealer would rather order you a JLUR, six speed with diesel in yellow with cloth seats, tow package, LEDs, ASG, steel bumpers and a body colored hard top than keep it on the lot, hoping someone will buy it.
