I was traveling Cades cove today and seen another JL that some really nice and bright DRL assembly in his jeep. I couldn’t stop to ask him, but they doubled as the turn signal as well.

anyone have any suggestions for these that are factory fit?

Check out Oracle's site. @ORACLElights

This sounds like something they'd have available.

Are yours halogen or OEM LED?

Hi Yes our Oculus switchback Bi-LED headlights can be used as a DRL as well as amber turn signal. HERE is a link to this product if you would like to learn more, and you can use promo code FORUM10 for 10% off!

This is the thread you want:

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...fender-led-drl-switchbacks-on-jl-sport.25959/

Installed these on my '20 sport s (with the LED headlights) almost three years ago, and they still work perfectly. One of the firs mods on my Jeep and I still love the look of it.

If you have the LED headlughts with the halo, there's a wiring 'shortcut' on page ten of that thread. You can tap straight into the halo power line - instead of running wires back to the fuse box - and all your DLR lighting will be on the same circuit.

That's actually a bad idea since all of the lights are canbus. Running it to the fuse box is the safer option to keep that pesky check engine light off.

Glad it worked for you. I've got a friend with a persistent check engine light because a shop tapped into his headlight harness to do the exact same thing with halos.

These canbus networks add a layer of complication since that harness isn't just an electrical circuit.

Tapping the harness should not cause a CEL for any reason. All the CANbus is looking for in the lighting system is a specified voltage drop in the loop. The programed specs are based on 'traditional' bulbs that have a much higher resistance then LED's. CANbus compatible LED's have a built in resistor so the system reads the proper voltage drop. This is why you have to add an inline resistor to non CANbus LED's.

Tapping the 5 wire has no effect on the halo resistance as the switchback has its own neg line back to the the system. They complete seperate curcuits, with the resistance read on the 'return line' for each seperatly.

If your friend is getting a cel CANbus error, it is most likely a issue with equipment they used. It could be pulling more voltage then expected. I've read of JK owners getting cel's from led's with a malfunctioning anti flicker harness causing random voltage spikes.

He went back to 100% stock lights and the CEL persists. The only thing that can't be undone without replacing the harness is the spots where they were damaged (tapped).

Does he have the factory LED headlights? The 5 wire I tapped powers the factory halo and is only on the harness with factory LED's.

Sounds like when they tapped his they shorted something that is still isn't fixed. Wrong resistance (to high) would simply show a bulb out on his display. To get a CEL, something is pulling extra voltage or amps via a short.
I'd splice in a new harness in before where they tapped the lines and see if it cleared the issue. They did something funky, thats for sure.

Actually the wiring for the halo is on all of them now. I installed OEM LED headlights on our 2021 and moved them to our 2023 (both came with halogen headlights) and they were plug and play on both Jeeps (activated with a Tazer).
