For open diff - does the fluid have much difference other than weight?

Recently planning to change the diff oil of my Mercedes E-class, which has an open diff on the rear.

MB OEM 75w-85 fluid with their spec approval is pretty pricey, $75 a quart, while liqui-moly/amsoil/redline is about $20.
It's not LSD. So wondering what additive could make the OEM oil so much more expensive? Or it's simply an OEM tax?
