yup, not what i am looking for. thanks
I'm there now, my friend. My 2018 JL has halogens and I love the inexpensive 1500 avg lifespan, the heat produced in winter to clear the snow. The color is fine but the lumens need to be more.

The OEM reflector buckets needs to be better designed. And to that, aftermarket pop-in LEDs in Halogen buckets are an even worse disaster for everyone. Half the cars/trucks out there use aftermarket LEDs and the dazzle and poorly reflected beam are blinding.

The reality of it, I used to drive with my regular Halogens on all the time. But now, I installed Sylvania ultra halogens and since they last maybe 300 hours, I only use them at night. I dropped safety in daytime for safety at night. It's a true definition of compromise.

But I LOVE my old style, simple, Halogen system.

I do get that. My hands are big and I have a hard time getting them in tight places. But a few minutes spent truly aiming your headlights at installation or when a new lift or tires are installed will save you grief in the end.

I have written a few articles and instructions to aiming headlights. It's almost...like the saying "buy once, cry once" if we can say "do it right and put in the effort once, cry once"

But your point is valid.

On trips where my load out affects the beam angle, I make it a point to lower my lights. Once I went to LEDs on my vehicles, I noted that I'd get flashed if I didn't lower them when heavily loaded.

That makes complete sense.

I am running a 2018 JLU Sahara. I have factory halogen head lamps. I actually prefer them... in some ways. The main reason is if it stops working, I can replace it without spending nearly $1000. I like to keep things simple. My issue is I'm getting older, and my vision driving at night has been better. I struggle with the on coming LED headlights. They wash out the halogens in my jeep.

I would like to keep the lamps replaceable, but I need to be able to get more output down the road... without blinding other drivers. I really like the amber off-road lights I have because they do not reflect back and cause me issues like the bright white lights do. But, I can't go down the road with those on... I am sure it would be equivalent to driving into the sun for oncoming traffic.

I am looking for a dual beam lamp (HI/LO), amber color if possible and legal, can be LED (I do have concerns with ice build up on the lens during winter weather.)

Any Suggestions? Anyone else in the same situation?
So the issue is oncoming traffic LEDs? Changing your headlights will not help much with that as your brighter headlights will not cancel out incoming LEDs. The only thing I’ve noticed that helps is increasing driver ride height. So increasing lift, raising seat bottom and back up etc, the taller you are the more you are out of incoming headlights. I really notice a difference switching from my lifted truck to low daily driver Toyota. My Jeep is in the middle.

Having said that, conventional lights loose output over time so I would just put in new halogens, although new LEDs will definitely be an all around improvement in general night driving except snow storms.

Lastly in some drives I’ll use my sun visor to block some light.

Good luck.

Anti-glare with blue light filters in the glasses I got for night driving help a little.
Yeah, I have these in my glasses and they work great!

As an aside, have any of you fine folks around my age (61) or older go through PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment) yet? My left eye went through it in April and my right in September. Vision is fine except for HUGE floaters. I'm really hoping my brain can tune them out eventually.

(R.I.P.) WILLYS 2021; Hello 2025 - Mojito JLUR
Aside from Oracle lights (I have several additions on my Wrangler - side mirrors, grill, rear bumper, skid plate), I have replaced some halogen bulbs on my other vehicles (motorcycle, wife's and son's cars as well), and with the great SUCCESS, with the Diode Dynamics bulbs. Some innovative and amazing heat dispersing technology, and very sharp cut lines with their SL2 and SL2 Pro types, so when aimed properly, they do not blind the oncoming traffic providing the plenty of output brightens:

And, NO, they are not my sponsors (although I will take another par of H7 as a gift)... 😊

Yes. Right eye 1 year ago.. I get floaters like worm ghosts and I flinch occasionally when I think I see something coming in from my right lateral view. Never should have joined that fight club.

A little extra light would be nice so I’m backing off what I said and am reviewing LED option mentioned.

Late 50s and I need to wear corrective lenses to drive. I have the LED headlight package, which is very good, for the most part. Recently I got a Metalcloak bumper, and the OEM LED fog lights wouldn't fit.

So, I ordered some Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro SAE compliant fog lights. They are an incredible upgrade over the OEM LED fog lights. the light fills in all the dark area between the headlight beams and the Jeep. They also have a wider field of lighting. The cutoff is very sharp, and the few times someone flashes is if I'm cresting a rise in the road. But, even the stock LED head lights would get me flashes sometimes.

I also ordered a Tazer and one of the mods I made to the lighting was to allow the fog lights to stay on with the high beams. What a great combination that is. An incredible amount of light for not a big investment.

I got the white, but you can also get them with amber. I would guess that amber auxiliary lights in combination with LED headlights would take some of the washout glare away that some people complain about with LED headlights. If you drive in snow at night, I would definitely recommend the amber version.
