I don't have my Fatbob anymore, but Crossbones Frank just doesn't sound the same...

Frank, still have my Fatbob and love it. Don't ride as much as we used to as it has gotten crazy with all the new folks moving in.

One may ask how Florida Man got his tow straps 45 feet up into a Live Oak tree. Well, after a few beers of thought, I taped some 550 cord (parachute cord) to my drone. The beer and the onboard stabilization smoothed-out the flight. I didn’t record that part, only the glorious act that happened afterwards. For your video enjoyment, recorded this evening.

I think we, in California, have crazier shit than Florida. We were the original "Land of Fruits and Nuts". I believe we can go toe to toe with Florida on this subject. 🤣 ;)

Does Florida have a "Lawnchair Larry"? This guy did this while I was actively flying. He launched 5 miles from where I live.

I don't mean to criticise, bit I'm kind if an expert on this sort of thing.

Scott, no explosives used, and no Ma Deuce. Not needed! I will say though, there’s a guy a few miles away that sounds like he’s shooting an M2. Drives me NUTS! Not because of the noise, but because his weapon’s headspace and timing need some serious adjustment!🤣

With about 70% of the usable line out, the winch should still be rated to about 10,000 lbs.

Based on the angle of the line and brake-locked wheels on a paved surface, I'd estimate a 5,000 lb pull would've moved the Jeep. The 2:1 mechanical advantage means that pull would've been less than 2,500 lbs at the winch.

According to this link your winch remote range might be limited to around 50 ft.
Foster, it’s not the wireless remote. I replaced the batteries yesterday evening, pulled out about 50-60 feet of rope, and spooled it in with just my body tensioning it. The solenoids clicked the entire way, right up to the winch.

I will be installing the new box when it arrives.

Scott, although I get your sentiment, the widowmaker was not attached to the tree when I brought it down. The Cat 3 winds twisted and sheared it from the upper trunk, and then wedged the entire 12-15 foot long branch (it weighed hundreds of pounds) into other large-diameter tree branches.

My days of blowing crap up and breaking things for the government ended in 2018. The wife wouldn’t be too happy if I continued to do that on our property, with our trees, etc.

Case-in-point. Yesterday I left some old small propane cylinders in an old foot locker out by the trash cans for pickup. My wife said it wouldn’t be safe for waste management, and said I was being irresponsible. She asked what I was going to do about it. I pulled them out of the trash. Of course my plan was to line them up against my shooting berm out back, and perforate them with rounds from one of my firearms. 30 years in the Army taught me that’s a viable course of action, of course!

She was VERY unhappy with that idea, needless to sayā€¦šŸ˜Ž I have yet to execute that plan…

Gee, I'm glad my wife doesn't point out when I'm unsafe or irresponsible. šŸ¤”
