I pulled out my backseat and replaced it with the cargo dog storage area. I’m thinking of putting up early simple bolt in backseat. I like the kind that came in the back of the old YJ’s. Or maybe a fold down one. Has anybody done this or seen pictures of it?

You mean with the cargo dog boxes still in place? Post a pic of a quick sketch maybe. Sounds interesting.

working on it looks like. the width between the tie downs is 32 inches over width is 36. Seat width for inlace is 33.5. I think I can build a bolt down seat mount to fi the area The seat is 20 inches wide. so it would begin just where the jeep cargo area tilts up to open. The 20 inches former ward would be th edge of the seat. Which I have to measure to see if would clear the cargo dog box

So if I’m following the seat would be in the rear cargo area. The passenger in this seat would sit with their legs extended pretty much straight out over the cargo dog boxes? The front edge of the seat would be just behind the back edge of the cargo dog boxes? Either way sounds interesting. I have a Tuffy Security box with all kinds of crap all ready bolted to it. But I like outside the box thinking.

Do some cardboard assisted mock ups

Also the lower the seat and more outstretched the passengers legs the more likely “submarining” could occur in a front end collision. Basically the occupant slides under the lap belt rather than being retrained in some circumstances. I rode in cars with no seat belts, let people ride in the bed of my truck and rode motorcycles growing up. Not trying to be a Karen or a hypocrite. Maybe put the person you care about the least in that seat. 🤓
