Hey guys looking to pop my cherry and do my first lift here. Just wanted to see what everyone has to say for those who have good advice! I daily a 21 JLU Sport Altitude with 2.0 turbo and auto trans. completely stock. I’ve done research on many different lifts and tires and im leaning towards a dynatrac 2” lift and want to be able to fit 37s A/T. My off-roading will not be rock crawling or anything crazy. Probably just trails, snow and soft sand on the beaches of Long Island. I understand rubicons sits higher and the flares are higher also but are we able to fit 37s on sport models like mine with 2inches of lift? I also understand when going to 37” tires, people tend to lose 7th and 8th gear and as long as it’s not utterly necessary, I’d rather not regear. My diff is actually being rebuilt at the dealer as we speak (warranty). Let me know what you guys think and any advice will be appreciated

I drove around on 37s with just a 2.5” spacer in the front for a while. It’s doable, but I honestly think you’ll want a little more lift. My wife’s JLU has a 2” lift all the way around on 35s and that seems to fit the bill perfectly. I wouldn’t add any more tire to hers at this height.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
... I daily a 21 JLU Sport Altitude with 2.0 turbo and auto trans. completely stock.
Then keep it as close to stock as possible.

If that's the kind of wheeling you're going to do, I'd keep it as close to stock as possible. The difference in ride quality, mpg, etc. isn't worth it, not for that type of wheeling. In fact, for trails, snow and soft sand you'll want to keep it lower, not taller.

...I also understand when going to 37” tires, people tend to lose 7th and 8th gear and as long as it’s not utterly necessary, I’d rather not regear. My diff is actually being rebuilt at the dealer as we speak (warranty). Let me know what you guys think and any advice will be appreciated
If you go with 37" tires, have the shop install better gearing. It is backward-thinking to raise the Jeep and add 37" tires without doing all of what is necessary. It's like making the perfect sandwich without the bread. It's not a sandwich, it's a mess, and it's going to end up on your clothes.

I have an ‘18 Sport, also on Long Island so I understand the kind of driving you’ll be doing.

37’s will kill your acceleration and seriously degrade your braking. You will absolutely need to regear and address braking if you want to enjoy driving your Jeep. Otherwise it’s going to be a dog to drive and a pain to stop.

2.5” on a Sport is the sweet spot. As are 35s. You’ll still notice a drop in acceleration, not nearly as bad though and you said you don’t want to regear. Braking is still good and not dangerous.

I have. 2.5” Teraflex lift on mine(details are in my signature), been running 35s with Rubicon take-off fender flares with no problems for five years. There’s nothing I can’t do on Long Island.

Also, 37s on a Sport are going to put an enormous stress on stock steering components and axles.

I hate that he did this without explaining all of the other changes you’d need to do to make this work. I enjoy watching his videos but he kinda dropped the ball on this one.
